I’m too lazy to Google this reference, so I’ll offer you a sincere “(frank) Off!” and hope the sentiment wasn’t wasted.

Well, it wasn’t meant with malice. It was meant that a great player is probably never going to win a championship because of the team built around him.

I see. Well then, malicious or not, you can probably understand my desire to once again tell you to “(frank) Off!”

It's called the Chiarelli special. It all started with the Seguin trade. Ever since then for some reason almost every deal he made was buying for $2 and selling for $1. We are just now on the mend. Good luck guys and be thankful for McDavid because once you turf Chairelli and some of his patent bloated contracts the turnaround will be made much easier by his presence.

Wow.

Even with the draft being a crapshoot, the Oilers have got to change something.

If you do a deep dive on other organizations, you can find the same kinds of things, but yeah. You cannot ignore the fact that there is something not working in how the Oilers evaluate the depth in draft-eligible players

Give us Saad for Sekera then. It’ll help your chances.

Scouting has been a HUGE weakness for this organization for as long as I can remember. I pretty much just assume anyone not picked in the 1st round will be a bust.

Not super worried about the drafts under Chiarelli. My problems come with pro scouting as I could've and have identified more acquirable breakout candidates and solid NHLers than this organization has the past 3 years.

Talbot overachieved last year. As did most of the Oilers now that I think of it. But goaltenders are very inconsistent, only a handful seem to have consistency throughout their careers. You'll have to really hope Talbot can turn it around after this dreadful season.

Even if Sekera bounces back, Oilers need the cap space. With Edm's "GM of the Year" candidate, they also have no cap space to improve.

not trying to be an bumhole about it, but this is why I hate when people say "oh tanking doesn't work...look at the oilers!" There are several reasons why the Oilers aren't as good as they could be, tanking (or picking 1st overall) isn't one of them. It takes more than just getting the best player in the world because hockey is such a team game

McDavid for Karlsson, Dzingel, this years first.

Just hit on every draft pick for the next 3 drafts and you’ll be fine.

I’m available for hire as GM, I don’t know if I’m allowed in Canada anymore though.

Draft moar Oil Kings with early picks. It's the only path to success.
