That contradicts his previous quote.
"the direction we are going, and will continue to go, is to be competitive on a nightly basis, we want to win, we want to make the playoffs, we want to stay competitive" - A_SteamingLombardi
Which is why I don't listen to these public lip services sermons.
The TDL, free agency and nexts season's training camp will determine the truth.
At least they are still pumping out mixed messages. |

he has put so much added pressure on our prospects. The fate of the Canucks is pretty much riding on the ones who have yet to suit up in an NHL game, according to Benning. |

We want to be competitive every night.
I don't know when we'll be competitive.

that was the team's fate prior to that statement. if the kids didn't know/think that, their hockey smarts are not where they should be. |

Of course the fate of the team rides on the future.
Our present team sucks.
We all say draft/developing is key to future success.
this is not some sort of revelation. |

no one said it was... Benning went on the air and individually named like 8 prospects, his vision of their ceiling, and where the club will use them (top 6 forwards, top 4 D men, etc). I am simply saying that while he is getting blasted with questions about his job thus far, he has put a ton of pressure on the prospects and picks he has chosen to fix his image |

I didn't hear/watch the press conference.
But given what we all know about the team, it strikes me as very appropriate to refer to the prospects as the silver lining for the team.
non story. |

So we are praising the jobs of the canucks scouts for our managements blunders and calling it a silver lining? |

That would be pretty funny. Benning "Signing Loui was the biggest mistake of my career. He is a garbage player who mailed it in the minute he signed his deal. " |

Benning's infatuation with Brisbois is kind of funny.
Don't get me wrong, he's a average prospect, but to bring up him and Chatfield more than once when talking about the prospect pool.
Give me a break. |

Demko is a number 1
Brisebois and Chatfield are NHL prospects
Juolevi is a top 4 puck moving d man
Gaudette, Lind, Dahlen, Pettersson, Gadjovich are all top 6 forwards.
