Hey Garth

Gardiner did not play the last 8 min of the first period in the Toronto game. maybe he is hurt. maybe Lou is already on the phone with Botteril to try and give a treasure trove for Lehner. Theres a contact here you can run with. hahahahahahahahaha

New Garf blog...Garden Variety Trade?

The Toronto Maple Leafs suffered a major setback in their Stanley Cup journey. Young top 4 defenseman Jake Gardiner took a vicious slash to the junk in last night's tilt versus the rival Columbus Blue Jackets. He might be lost for the season. A devastating blow to the playoff virgin Leafs.

The Leafs and the Sabres have been recently talking trade despite being division rivals. SABRES GM Jason Botterill is in prime position to add a treasure trove of assets for his valued trade chips. GMJB has a Jasoncy of assets with which to deal.

LEAFS GM Lou Lamoriello is an old gunslinger from the NHL's old Wild West days. Will Lou Holliday out gun Jason Crockett? GMJB needs to chase a defenseman out of the OK Corral and his name could be Zach Bogosian. Bogosian is currently injured right now but I'm told from a close source that he could be "ready to go come playoffs."

The Leafs are under a lot of pressure to make some noise in the playoffs this season. Colossal giants and Cup favorites Tampa Bay and Boston will be huge favorites against this young and inexperienced playoff virgin Leafs squad.

Enter Zach Bogosian. A former high first round pick with a plethora of NHL experience would be perfect for the greenhorn Leafs. Bogo is the perfect fit for Leafs head coach Mike Babcock who loves his players to play a "heavy game."

One NHL scout I recently talked to told me that "whichever team gets Zach Bogosian could be getting the next Brad Stuart." Remember it was Mike Babcock who begged Red Wings GM Ken Holland back in 2008 to acquire the heavy playing Stuart. This move was the final piece added to the eventual Cup winning Red Wings team.

Could history repeat itself for the playoff virgin Leafs? It may very well could. Such a player will certainly cost a high premium to acquire...

Enter William Nylander. The lesser talented brother of Alex, William boasts exactly what GMJB is looking for. Possessing game changing skill who can compliment NHL Generational superstar, Jack Eichel.

By the time the Sabres are ready to contend for the Stanley Cup, and be the NHL's next Dynasty, they could boast a Superline which has not been seen since the old Flyers "Legion of Doom" line of Leclair - Lindros-Renberg. A legendary line of Nylander - Eichel - Nylander would be Epic for the ages.

The Leafs need to make this move now to make their lofty playoff aspirations possible. Injuries are tough this time of year. Before the snake enters the Garden, Lou Lamoriello needs to cut the head off before it poisons the rest of the playoff virgin Leafs.

His name is Zach Bogosian and he could very well end the Toronto Maple Leafs half century Stanley Cup drought. Go and get him Lou. Bogo is not your Garden Variety defenseman.

Garf just salivates each time a player gets injured. Then he can blog about the Sabres trading the great Samson Reinhart, Evander Kane and Robin Lehner for a treasure trove of assets. This is very exciting.

Tell us who is going from the Sabres to the Sharks in this tank scenario?!
- TheMussel

From Garth

"San Jose Sharks- Pete DeBoer's team finds itself in 30th place in the NHL with 57 5v5 goals. The Sharks, Wild and Ducks are all tied for the final Western Conference playoff spot with 47 points in 38 games played. Sharks GM Doug Wilson continues to scout Buffalo and Montreal. The price will be high for Kane. It may cost Wilson left winger Logan Couture, prospevct Danny O'Regan, and a first round draft choice."

The sharks would be wise to take this deal. The sharks can have future HOF Evander Kane, who is red hot over the last month, and has 18 goals and 38 points for the season. All it will cost the sharks is Couture who is struggling with 23 goals and 43 points this season, so the sharks will have to a first rounder to even it out.

Can anyone explain to me why any team would offer a first round pick and a prospect or a top prospect for Lehner? Lehner was initially aquired for a late first round pick. He has since played like a guy who is a 26 year old suspect. Not good enough to play on the 30th place team going forward. Why would his value be going up? Garth?

The lesser talented Nylander must be included. Bogo, 2nd for Lilly bags, Dermott, Diet Nylander, 1st. GMJB is playing with Jasoncy.

Next up... Evander Kane to Preds for Johansen. Lehner to Isles for Barzal. Samson Reinhart to Pens for Kessel.
