I get that. I think Leaf fans get upset with players who are expected to play above their capabilities way too often and fail. Its not the players fault by any means, we just jump on them until a change is made. Its weird to see. These guys can be successful when used correctly and their ice time managed properly.

Of course, now he's overpaid if he's a permanent 4th liner, but that a whole 'nother problem.

TB is in reach. Games in hand look ugly for Leafs, but you may be right - that's a lot of hockey for the B's, and TB is losing some games. Leafs still play 7 games in 11 days coming up. Crazy.

makes you wonder.. more so with Bozak (from my perspective) if he might take a 3x3 deal... yes it is a pay decrease, but he would be the clear #3, and he knows he'd be playing with decent players, and that the team will have a chance to win. With a young family, I believe his girlfriend/wife is from the GTA... maybe he sticks around. At age 31 or whatever he would be well advised to take the guaranteed extra year...

I don’t think I’d want Bozak at 3 years but I don’t think I’d mind him coming back next year unless they found a good upgrade. Having three good centres is huge and while he has his defiencies he hasn’t hurt the team and can still produce a bit.

Think part of that is use them properly. We have had a LOT of coaches who havent.

It's been going on for a long time. Think most of it is media backlash, especially pre-internet days. Players are the easy target.

Losing JVR means losing a net-front presence that no one in the system can replace. The Leafs have to keep him. Komo could be replaced by Grundstrom or Johnson but a better idea would be to make him a fourth line center. Bozak can be replaced by Nylander or Marleau, or better yet get a good prospect or trade for one. They need one more defenseman but make a hockey trade. Minny wont be able to afford Dumba, Jets would move Trouba for a good lefty (Gardiner), and Risto could probably be had for a package of prospects, picks and someone like Carrick. Hainsey needs to move down the line up.

MLSE should put out a letter to the fan base... like the Rangers did. They should indicate that they will be active up to the deadline, clearing CAP space and expiring contracts, so that they are in a position to acquire high priced FreeAgents come July 1st.

They could go on to say , they are looking bring in players who originate from the GTA and want to be on a winner.

Then just say they don't have anyone particular in mind at this point. Tampering done in public....

It's horseshoe hockey. If they keep playing this way, it will eventually catch up to them. It'd be a miracle for them to be successful playing this way.
