Not true - was totally misreported by MLSEL-hating press.
At the time, the talk was that he was too good for the OHL - and roomers of him going to Europe.
So MLSEL floated the idea of him playing as a 17 year old in the AHL.
It was never about seizing his rights - that's a franking non-starter. It never would have been possible under CBA - but that didn't stop idiots from reporting it that way. |
