I was really down on AV because of Shattenkirk, Shatty never once in his career had a season as bad as he was having, especially with giveaways, but, AV is off the hook for Shatty once I learned he was playing hurt all year long.

And, Shatty playing hurt was a team wide decision, not solely on AV

I don’t like Shattenkirk but I’m willing to give him a pass due to the injury. He’s never going to be a defenseman that can shutdown another teams top line which is why he’s going to be on the 2nd pair throughout his career as a NYR. Tough having a 6.5+ million dollar 2nd pair dman.

He was good his 2 years under Torts before AV, had 1 season under AV in which he had career lows in goals and points (1 g 13pts) then went to TBL and set career highs in goals assists and points. All while playing solid defensively for all 3 coaches.
