To be honest. Let leafs sign Karlsson. He was the best defenseman in the world. He will turn 28 when contract begins. He will be signing a huge 8 year contract for well north of 10 million. And with that knee injury he just doesn’t look like the same man. He lost the speed that made him so great. And while he was better then most gave him credit for defensively. You will be expecting a point per game for that much money and leaf fans will loose their mind. And his prime is over. |

I agree with a lot of what you said.
But it wasn't his knee. It was his ankle
and he is the first player to have the procedure done in the NHL, and he has artificial junk in there. He doesnt turn as quick, and skate as quick. |

Bolts in on Karlsson?
What the heck could we possibly give up for that?

I don't see us moving Sergchev or Point. Palat ... maybe? But not he AND Johnny.
Even then, you'll prob; have to buy out Callahan as well to ensure you can keep Kuch.
Yeah, I dunno man. I'm not seeing how you swing this, long term. |

Well I don't know, I've stated why with a bunch of facts, you just ... gave your opinion with no arguments. You are supposed to be unbiased then?
Since 2011, only Ovechkin and Stamkos scored more goals than Patch (and he had junk for a centre all that time). I guess you need to re-read the definition of what the word "average" means.
I just don't see much of any stats or aspects where Nash is better than Pacioretty right now. Maybe career Playoffs PPG? Even there it's mostly a wash, 0.50 vs 0.53. |

Wow. Do u really think that will be worth it. You have a number one guy already. Don’t u think u would want to keep the group together with that money and keep young players to replace aging and/or free agents you can’t afford. He is not worth it. |

My bad. Should of double checked that. But I feel like when he signs it will hurt worse then the price signing. Which is saying a lot. |

People don't like him because he's a hab...we went through this exact same thing with Kessel. You're wasting your time trying to reason it out |

Pass...
AMac, Manning or Gudas for Beniot straight up? - dragonoffrost
I doubt Buffalo wants any of those three. Manning has been a tire fire the last two weeks. That's why I added a third rounder. If it takes a second rounder to get one of the others so be it. |

Vegas in on Green because they need experienced d-men? Isn't their AHL team loaded with mediocre, experienced d-men they couldn't trade after the expansion draft already? |

If you were ever going to trade Vilardi, you would be better with Pacioretty anyway. Younger player, better goals/season average for the last couple years, better cap hit, signed for another year ... - Popofjc
Not gonna happen. I read that awful Habs SB Nation blog yesterday. Blogger wanted Vilardi AND a 1st round pick AND Amadio for Pacioretty and for Montreal taking on Gaborik's contract. The comments section was even worse, saying that Vilardi, Amadio, and a 1st wasn't enough for Patches straight up, and if the Kings wanted Montreal to take on Gaborik's contract, they'd have to throw in Kyle Clague as well.
Vilardi, Amadio, and a 1st round pick for Pacioretty would be equivalent to trading Anze Kopitar, Wayne Simmonds, and a 1st round pick for one year of Olli Jokinen and some cap relief back in 2008. In other words, tremendously stupid.
If the Kings were to do this, at best, they'd get a early 30-something player past his prime signed to an overpriced long-term contract. In other words, another Gaborik. At worst, they gave up their best prospect since Drew Doughty, another 1st round pick (which could very well be a lottery pick again), and a roster player and will have nothing to show for it next summer except just under $5M in extra cap space.
No thanks.
If the Kings do trade Vilardi, it will be for a blue-chip player in his early to mid 20s that is NHL ready, but has several years of RFA eligibility remaining, or a long term but reasonable contract. Someone like Max Domi comes to mind. |
