Don’t worry, when they need cap space Hossas uniform allergy will spread to him.

Can Sekera, Lucic and Russell contract that on their next road game to Chicago?

Need to find your own circumvention method. The Flyers trade dead bodies to Arizona, the Kings make sure their players with contract burdens get caught with drugs, the Devils retire their burdens to Russia and the Hawks players develop uniform allergies.

Need to get creative.

I'd prefer it if Russel got what Voynov contracted.

That it is. But he’s still playing a position we need help on. Lucic is a waste of a LW spot. I’d only do it if we could somehow Jettison Russell as well.

Depends on Benson's development OR whether or not Khaira can hold his own in a top 6 role honestly. Both of those are suspect to variability. If one proves himself worthy, Lucic would be seen as expendable, but as of now, no.

Lucic contributes and does what is expected of him. Nothing more, nothing less. He had a rough start to the season but has rebounded (even though this season as a whole is spiraling down the toilet). Cap hit might bite us in the ass during the last few years, but that's UFA for ya. Regardless, definitely not a waste of a roster spot.

Hunting accident with Gryba? He has to serve some sort of purpose. After the 3rd or 4th "accident" hopefully the dumb (frank)s still don't catch on.

Horton Robidas and Lupul all get sent to an island...

Cap circumvention is rampant but the league does nothing.
I’d love to get creative and get rid of some NMC players.

Lucic was brought in to be a top 6 winger. And he's paid handsomely to do so. When you're playing with CMD, Drai, or Nuge being on pace for 45 points doesn't cut it. 6 million for 45 points. Lucic is a wasted roster spot at 6 million.

Does he though?

For 6 mill I want a player that produces in the area of 60 points. In Lucic’s case I’m willing to settle for 50, because he is a big mean mother(frank)er. But at his current pace I cannot see him cracking 50, and IMO that just isn’t good enough.

He should be getting 50-60 on a line without McDavid.
60-70 when playing with McDavid.

He ain’t doing either...

Every now and then the league slaps a team so they can keep up appearances. Dropped the Devils down to 30th in the 1st and took away a 3rd, fined the Kings and hit them with a recapture. But yeah, it’s a joke to think these pre CBA monstrosities are ever going to result in significant dead space.

His contract is tied for 60th highest. I expect top 60 player results or at least close to it for that much money. 45 points puts him at 124th in scoring. You know who else makes $6 mill a season? The same guy he replaced. Who is on pace for 94 points without a CMD or Drai.

I see your case guys.

Guess I place a lot of value in what he brings to this team physically. However, it seems like his shots/goal or SP conversion is quite low this year (deviation of -4.7% from the previous), only comparable to that was his 2012 year. Interesting to note as well, considering he is coming from back to back 20+ goal seasons.

Possibly a down year?

I just wish he'd actually PLAY like a big, mean mother(frank)er. What's the point of having all the big bodies if they don't even use their advantage? That Kesler hit on McDavid should've seen some manner of response from one of Lucic, Kassian, Nurse or Maroon, but instead, there was absolutely nothing.

This whole team has flatlined honestly. Almost as if their spirits have left their bodies, except for McDavid of course. Someone mentioned calling this team McDavid and Co. Truthfully, that is the most accurate statement of this team so far into this season.

To be fair he is 9th in hits in the NHL. So on that note should he not be paid as a high scoring checker? Say a better Cal Clutterbuck? For comparisons sake... Clutterbuck makes 3.5 a season so should we not thìnk Lucic would be more fairly compensated in the 4-4.5 range? At that rate I wouldn't have much of a complaint about him. At 6... just obserd.

Look at Toronto's results without Matthews. Just imagine how we would look without Mcdavid for any long stretch.
