Surely this is satire. This is not something you actually believe
- jcragcrumple

How so?

32 goals last year, 20 5 on 5.
18 goals this year, 12 5 on 5.

Plays 4 less minutes a night than O’Reilly, and plays defensively

He’s easily better

And I won't hurt to have another elite player who does play a 200ft game rather than a bunch of loafers for him to folllow
- lulags

I think getting a couple good defenders up here will help that a lot as well. The center supports, but the defenders are supposed to do a lot of the dirty work...which they don't.

Getting a few like Nelson is playing now/Guhle was playing here, could go a long way in turning Jack into a 200ft player.

Well spoken.

Lack of leadership and even emotion with Ror and Sam.

Bills trade Sammy and darius (2) top 4 picks and got better

- Boss34

Is there a player who HAS shown consistent effort every night?
Jack hasn’t

He is the best player on the ice without Eichel. I think even the most ardent ROR haters would admit he's far and away the second best player on the team
- jcragcrumple

No question about it. Ror is the 2nd best behind eichel.

That's why I can't figure out why ror is so disliked?

People want to make it seem like he's older than he is, can't score 5 x 5 and is a complete wiener.

Watch him vs. Sam now that jacks hurt.
Complete different direction. Not just 1 game, but moving forward. Leaders lead.

Brayden Point > O’Reilly
Mathew Barzal> O’Reilly
Evgeni Malkin > O’Reilly
Evgeni Kuznetsov > O’Reilly
Nazem Kadri > O’Reilly
Vincent Trochek> O’Reilly
Logan Cotoure > O’Reilly

There’s 7 off the top of my head

- sbroads24

You keep making this point
Unless we can trade O’Reilly (or something else) for one of them...
then it doesn’t matter where u rank them

O’Reilly is who we have
He’s a good player
The end

He’s tied for 210th in 5 on 5 points. With the all-star caliber Jason Pominville

He doesn’t score 5 on 5. And it’s a problem.

I think the Sabres should just fold.

They are obviously never going to be good, so whats the point.

Trade ROR to Toronto (50% retained) for a 7th
Okposo for future considerations
Eichel to Montreal (50% retained) for a 3rd
Waive Reinhart
Risto Buy out.

Get rid of all the "Not best players, but still really good in the NHL" and start over.

I didn’t make the point. Someone said there isn’t 5 2nd centers better.

That’s just not true.

Wasn’t Pominville top10 in 5v5 points per 60min last year?

So did Pommer’s stats drop bc he’s suddenly terrible...
or bc he’s on a bad team now, and was on a good one last year?

I wonder how RORs numbers would look on a good team

I heard if you say 5-on-5 in the mirror 5 times, 5 times in a row, James Tanner and Cody Franson will appear

5 on 5 is where 80% of the game is played, and won. You need to score there.

We had an awesome PP last year, did almost nothing in the standings for us

A DT on a 53 man rosters and a 2C are not comparable imo.

Sam R and Sammy I get. Both never lived up to the hype for various reasons

- jcragcrumple

What position in football is comparable with 2c in hockey?

Best 2 corner backs?

Darby and gilmore?

Bills made some tough moves that paid off.

I really like ror, I think it would be hard to replace him, if we didn't have Casey mcstud lined up already.

Svechnikov too
And i think having him + Zadina, MIGHT, open the door for us to bring in talent from the KHL
Not Kovalchuk,
but there’s some other good players over there

- jdfitz77

Wouldn't be unhappy with Svech at all either. Wished he got more time at the WJC. Signing Antipin recently shouldn't hurt either. He should get a lot of usage for the remainder of the season. Hopefully he goes home and tells his friends.

Having a quality import prospect has to help and Eichel isn't a bad reason to sign either.

That’s fine
But your list of guys who are “better” is what I’m talking about

It’s not like Tampa is trading Point to us for him
or NyI is gonna give us Barzal

Thus, there’s no point in this considering any list making

O’Reilly is a good 2C
Sure, he’s “overpaid” by a mil
Again though, it’s Buffalo
We’d have to eventually overpay any of those guys on your list to stay here too if we had them

The deal I just talked through with coworkers is Samsonite for Sanheim. That is probably the base of the deal. I don't like it. They weren't willing to give up Sanheim for rental Kane.

Would consider giving up Simmer for Kane though. They think shedding Wayne Train's salary, quite possibly the best contract in hockey, is how they open up space for Tavares. We get Wayne Train and open the door for the Flyers to get Tavares. Buffalo continues to do charity work for Philly.

So Pommer is still top10 per 60min in 5v5 scoring?

Or has that dropped?

The point you’re missing (or ignoring) is that RORs numbers would likely be better on a better team

No, he isn’t Eichel
But he’s still good
And he’s the guy we have

He didn't say which 2 games. Could go 3 years between those 2 games.

Though I do think they need to give him some time just to see what they've got. What do they have to lose?

Your co-workers aren’t in Philly’s front office though... are they?

I wouldn’t be too concerned about what deal they would or wouldn’t make

Has no bearing on what potential trade might happen
