If the Hawks keep playing like this, I see only 2 clubs, maybe 3, as virtual locks to end up worse.

Coyotes and Sabres, plus the Sens.

Rasmus Dahlin would look good in a Hawks sweater.

Keep losing boyz!

25 games left..if they go 10-15-2 they got a shot 27th in the league...are they really that bad?

Sounds like Berube will get a shot. Why not, he can’t be any worse. I would expect to see Glass back in Rockford but I wouldn’t bet on it.

One issue that has always made me lose my mind about Q is the different treatments that different players receive. It is absolutely certain that if Hartman takes that incredibly stupid, unnecessary penalty that Wingels took with seconds left in the 2nd period, he is benched for the rest of the game and is sat out the next game. That penalty resulted in the tying goal and any momentum the fragile Hawks had was gone and a loss became a given. Wingels however was given even more ice time. Nice approach Q.

Good! Might as well get some more Rockford guys a cup of coffee in the NHL and see how they do against the big boys (as long as they continue to tank.)

Buffalo won tonight! God that Powerplay advertisement is brutal. Look at their faces as they leave the ice....that is the textbook look of defeat and demoralization.

Toews: There's no words left. It's about what you go out there and do. Obviously I'm out there for a couple goals against again tonight, so got to be better defensively and got to find ways to create offensively, especially when it's been tough to do that lately.

honestly don't think they are that bad...but it could and may happen...if they end up south of 85 pts...which looks highly probable at this point...i don't know how Q survives...

the one excuse which stanbow may use is the loss of crawford...as weak as that is

ETA: Wingels is one of the more forthright players (along with Murray)

“We were on our way,” Tommy Wingels said. “But it’s the same thing that’s plagued us over the past month or two. We can’t string 60 minutes together. We have tidbits here and there where we’re hard, we’re aggressive, we’re physical, we win battles — then it lets up, and the other team gets back in the game. Certainly frustrating. It’s frustrating for us, it’s frustrating for you guys following it and it’s frustrating for everyone watching.”

ETA2: Honestly sounds like the best investment might be a sports psychologist

“We give up one early on on the penalty kill, so be it, we’ve got to respond, we’ve got to stay up on the bench,” Toews said. “We can’t just fold up and say, ‘Oh, I guess that’s it.’ I don’t know. It’s frustrating, because throughout our lineup, we don’t have that response when we need it. We need to find ways to bounce back and stay in those games and not get frustrated, not let that noise, or the crowd, or a bad call, or a goal against us just sink our ship, and shut ‘er down for the last 20 minutes.”

Gone from the team since the end of last year: Panarin, Hossa, Panik, Hjalmarsson, Kruger, Campbell, TVR, Rasmussen, Tootoo, Rozsival, Oduya, Desjardins, Darling - that's a lot of talent and experience, especially on defense.

the turnover is significant but necessary...i applaud the youth movement...

i expected the growing pains of youth....did not expect the declining pains of the aging core to this degree and no way anyone expected saad to turn into pumpkin...

yes craw getting hurt was is a huge part of this losing but his play masked all these other issues that have been growing and exploded this year...

Nobody else notice Granato was on the bench taking notes the last 3 games? Pretty sure he hasn't been there all season. I was at the game tonight. Glass should never see the ice again 3 straight goals all wrist shots and could see them all. If Q wants to fix this team's psyche I would never play him again. The team played well enough to win this game. Glass allowed 3 of the worst goals. It's hard to play well in general especially when you know if a shot gets through the goalie is most likely letting it in. The few players who played well tonight are all players who need a contract not much of surprise.

I keep reading how part of the Phaneuf/Gaborik trade was about Ottawa saving salary $$ over the course of all contracts involved.

I wonder if we could pry some of their players away from them and give them Hossa+

Maybe Pageau++ for Hossa++
Just from Pageau/Hossa swap, we save 2M+ off the cap, but Ottawa saves 5.3M real $$

Trade Anisimov for defensive help or to move up in the draft. Or both?

And we get definitely younger, maybe faster and "more cost controlled?"

One would have to think that the Hawks sign Tyler Sikura to an NHL contract and give him a cup of coffee as extra leverage to sway Dylan who seems to not be a sure thing to sign with the team after the Northeastern season is over.

Tyler has been on of the better Hogs this season. Not that it takes much, but he is 5th on the team in scoring (2nd in goals with 15 behind Highmore's 20) which is relatively impressive given that he's a bottom-6 player. He's also 1st amongst forwards with a +12 (2nd overall behind Dahlstrom).

In addition to Tyler, Highmore and possibly Johnson get call ups near the end of the season to see what they have. I imagine Hayden may earn a recall, too. Don't see any other Hogs defenders drawing in. Maybe Snuggerud if any?

Cap problems, lacking in "toughness", stuck with Brandon Saad? Sounds like you guys could use some Milan Lucic action Lucic with 1.25mil cap withheld for Saad. 4.75mil for Lucic isn't so bad and you could likely pawn him off on Seattle once the next expansion rolls around.

Edmonton needs defenseman so I would say the Hawks would counter with Seabrook for Looch straight up

last we saw of stanbow was on the outside the Az arena on the phone talking about how excited he is about this team

during this streak of 7 losses here is your hollow core production
15: 1g 1a
19: 1g 3a
20: 0g 1a
88: 1g 2a
2: 0g 2a
7: 0g 2a

3 goals and 11 assists from your "top" players...

out scored 29-12...

- bogiedoc

Missed the game, but I’ll comment anyways:

Can’t score if you don’t get it up.

Schmaltz - 1 SAT (missed), on ice for 8 CF
Anisimov - 1 SAT (missed), on ice for 8 CF

Kane had better numbers, but if that was the second line - and you’re relying on them to be part of your scoring group....

It is obvious that the scheduling is the reason the Hawks are playing bad. And if you noticed, certain stars haven't aligned. But, we like our team.

Detroit is right on our heals and they have two games in hand. Hopefully we don't win another game this year. Draft order is important to the resurgence of this team. Do we want Stan & committee drafting for us since we'll be in the top 10?

Why would Duclair be scratched? Young, fast, skilled, has something to prove, and has played fairly well. Now I see, nevermind. Q has an agenda.
- gpulvino

Actually, I think the answer to this one is pretty simple. Wingels earned a spot on the top line. Duclair did very little to keep his. Wingels had a solid game last night, and I hope he has earned another start there against Anaheim.

Duclair could probably draw back in place of Jurco. So could Vinnie.

1,5,7...Who's the goalie for the rest of the year...Berube and?

2...Don't you need an independent Dr for LTIR? Toews is obviously not what he was 3 years ago, but you can't LTIR someone because they aren't playing up to their contract.

9...Foley too. Especially if he EVER does another Harry Carey impression!
