For discussion, what is the plan at goalie? To wait for Hart until 2020. We all hope Sandstrom and/or Hart pan out, but both are question marks at this point. I agree with you, they are ahead of schedule at forward with the development of Coots and Konency and lucking into Patrick.
I think Hextall knows he only had 2 goalies in the organization right now capable of playing at the NHL over the next 2 seasons and both are not capable of playing 50 ganes. With his patient approach, I dont think Im wrong. So is he willing to waste 2 years of Voracek and G to stick to the plan and find out if his goalies pan out. I just dont see it. Just my opinion. - ravishingone
I don't see this injury as an indication that Elliott isn't capable of playing 50 games. I think he is. I think his games played total in the past is more about the caliber of goalie he is rather than his physical capability of playing more games.

I think the plan was to have the current tandem guide is the next two years. He may also be expecting stolarz to be in the mix next year, and of course I see him as a better option than Lyon and prob neuvy.
If it turns out they don't think he can cut it, maybe they look at another ufa on short term. They've got some cap space but hexy guards those picks like gold. For now.

He played over 50 games once in his career and that was in 09. I find that to be a trend not a coincidence over a career that started in 08. It s not a knock he is a professional goalie who is now 32. Expecting him to play more games then his normal work load throughout his career is overly optimistic. Neuvy is Neuvy when it comes to health.

I just dont know how bad that knee is for Stollie. I agree with you on the premise Hexy has guarded assets. However, the team rebuild has gone better then expected and quicker. The problem is Neuvy cant stay healthy. I want them to get use to making the playoffs every year. If it means a tweek to the goal tending plan because curcumstances have changed, I think Hexy will make changes. There will be a limit how far he will go, but he should do it. They re playing vets right now to the dismay of the fan base, so they sure act like making the playoffs is important

I'll tell you this, I think that making the playoffs is super important for them. They want to get the young guys experience and as you say used to making the playoffs. If hexy thinks he can make the team better by adding at the deadline without blowing picks. I think he'll do it.

Nothing that some conditional picks can't fix. Goalies can end up pretty cheap. Bishop was traded for almost nothing last year |

I don't understand why everyone thinks goalies cost a hundred first rounders. I would just like a depth guy. Is zepp around ? |

Hope you're right. But even if he doesn't we won't be sending a 2nd rounder for Lehner. I think that's just madness. For what? To get into the playoffs and maybe win a round. It's not consistent with hextalls plan imo
It's starting to look like we're maybe ahead of sched which is great, but I can't see us beating Pitt Tampa or Boston in the east let alone winning the cup. - Hextall271
I’m kind of leaning to this.
NHL playoffs aren’t the Super Bowl. It’s a best of 7 against 4 teams.

Hi Bill
Unless Elliott is good to go in couple of days you would think they’d almost have to make a deal to bring in a goalie, no?
Also, can you explain what the coaching staff is seeing in Weise to keep him in the lineup over Leier? I just don’t get it. - BiggE
this team isn't winning a 7 game series against the top teams in the league no need to mortgage the future for the now |

Exactly. All they need is someone better than Lyon. That's not going to cost much.
I posted the majority of UFA Goalies on non-playoff bound teams earlier on. The supply is going to outweigh the demand at the deadline. I think you could get yourself a vet like Pavelec for example and I don't think it's going to be more than a 4th rounder at most. Probably a 5th. |

But is parting with a 2nd or 3rd really mortgaging the future? Especially with how well Hextall has stocked the prospect pool. Any team wants to play in the playoffs and the experience could be great for guys such as Provy, TK, Patrick and Hagg. I don’t care if we lose first round. I’ll take 4 games of playoff hockey any day over golfing; unless we’re drafting top 5. |

If I'm being totally honest, my crack was less a shot at the Flyers than it is a shot at the NHL and their scheduling bulls*t. This is not the first time this season that the Flyers have been put in a four games in six nights situation (Jersey on Tuesday at home will be game four) with a bunch of travel involved... and its absolute crap and you would think totally avoidable with a little bit of foresight and attention to detail. |

If anyone is here in Vegas for the game, tweet me at @LCrocetto67. Lets grab a beer together. I met a lot of people on my flight who are attending. I think we'll be represented pretty well.
Bill, are you in Vegas for this one? |
