The thing is, they were our regular yellow. That's why I hate our current uniforms. They're hideous. They just made a significant portion yellow on these travesties you refer to. Turdburger is putting it nice.
The Sabres ACTUAL current colors aren't even Navy, Grey and Yellow, they are:

He does poop like that every game. He makes filthy little passes all the time too, most of the time it doesnt result in a scoring play so you dont get to see it in the highlights but he undresses guys in tight space and makes the right pass and makes it look routine all the time. Other teams gear up for him, they know hes the best player out there. Im interested to see how hes going to perform in the league when he doesnt have a target on his head.

Next year teams are allowed to introduce "third" jerseys again, right? Sabres should bring out the original "away" jersey as their third next year.....and then after one or two more years of growth and showing they are worthy of wearing those colors, they should make the full time switch. A competitive Buffalo team wearing the colors Gilbert wore, that would be sweet. The only way that would be better is if they go back to whites at home.
I agree with others that have stated that one of the cool parts of going to watch different visiting teams is seeing them in their colors rather than their whites.
And for the Panthers next year, I'd like to see a "third" jersey with the original panther on the present jersey design.

The pouncing panther is a bad ass logo, IMO it should not have been changed. New owner wanted to make his mark with his military unit patch inspired logo, and for marketing/monetary reasons...apparently the original logo was hard (very costly) to replicate in smaller size, like on hats, and often just came out looking kind of poopty.

To be fair, there were some really bad years in there too. 7 years of .500 or lower points percentage in the original jerseys. Somehow including one playoff year in 91-92 at .463!
