Shaq was 2nd on the team regular season and playoffs despite being 33 and out of shape. Without Shaq taking a beating they don't win.

By the current standard that has been set in professional sports, he will get in.

"Good" to "Very Good" has been the standard rather than "Great" in the Halls for all for major sports for a long time now.

Nice to see Sam doing nice things consistently. Everyone is always looking to the next 16 year old star about to hit the draft as our savior from this mess. But I think that coming from within is what would really jumpstart the Sabres. And that guy would be Reinhart.

I am of the opinion that the quality of guard in that era wasn't that spectacular. Kobe Bryant was the exception.

I'm out of my mind because the flash is a Hall of Famer and is probably going to rank top 15 in the greatest all-time basketball players

Yep I'm crazy

- GERBE!!!75PTS

Dude. First of all, LeBron isn't even top-3, and I'd argue he doesn't even crack the top-5 at this point.

Dwayne Wade is not a top-10 player. Ever.

And you are seriously underrating Shaq, one of the most dominant players of EVER.

Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Julius Irving, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, Phil Jackson, etc... LeBron plays in a soft-era that allows constant traveling, he flops constantly and he hasn't won poop-all by himself, something you're knocking on Shaq for.

He's great, I'm not taking that away from him but Durant will be a better player when all is said and done and LeBron couldn't have done what he does in any era that preceded him. FFS, Jordan would score 60 pts a game if he played in the modern NBA.

Edit: I didn't even mention Magic Johnson, Reggie Miller, Tim Duncan, etc...

While I agree with the sentiment, none of those guys played in an era where the zone defense was allowed. LeBron dominates just about anybody one-on-one, moreso because of athleticism than skill, but I'm not sure it matters.

The 2006 Miami Heat

Shaquille O'Neal was one of the most dominant big men on the court for his entire career. He was a perfect compliment to players like Dwyane Wade and Kobe Bryant and he was a huge reason that the Lakers and Heat won their NBA Championships.

However, there is no doubt that Dwyane Wade was the powerhouse on that Miami Heat championship team.

Dwyane Wade averaged 34.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists that season. On the other hand, Shaquille O'Neal only averaged 13.7 points with 10.2 rebounds a game, a huge step down from his heyday with the Los Angeles Lakers. Just for comparison purposes

Well if you’re trying to drastically compact the Hall of Fames,
then maybe there’s an argument against Wade

But I’d say Kobe was the only guard definitely better than him

Most would have Wade #2 in that era

He still will never be the GOAT regardless. It's ridiculous to even suggest it isn't Jordan.

Jordan is the Gretzky of basketball. Yeah, you can try and argue Mario Lemieux was better, but he wasn't.

There's almost zero doubt that if Jordan didn't [get his dad murdered by bookies he refused to pay and been told by the league to] retire for 2 years that the Bulls wouldn't have won 8-straight.

There's a reason Wade's and Kobe's era was dominated by the big man. The guard play in the NBA was largely unspectacular.

I'm not sure how much credence I lend to this, but I heard a stat on Fox Sports Radio the other day that LeBron had the worst plus-minus in the league over the past 3 months, leading some to speculate that he was sabotaging that Cleveland team.

That being said, comparing eras is always tough. Great players are great because they can adapt to the game that's around them. I find that a lot of people assume that the Jordans and Birds in their primes couldn't adapt to the current game, and that the LeBrons, Steph Currys or even the Kevin Durants of this era couldn't adapt to the old game. I don't necessarily think either is true.

He definitely is playing better, but I won’t celebrate a guy who only puts up points with 15. Literally everyone is. But it’s good to see the line clicking
- sbroads24

Wasn’t this his first game on Eichels line in a while? He’s got 13 points in the last 10, 7 at even strength.
