Read above post

98th in Ozone starts (top end 2nd line)

19 in PP time among forwards.

He’s not a freaking goalie

- sbroads24

And NONE of that detracts from what i was saying

He does score 60ish points
He’d score more if he wasn’t overplayed in the defensive zone
He’d be more effective if he was on a team who scored more

O’Reilly is not nearly as bad as u make him out

Our defense sucks bc of our defensemen, and our goalie, and our mediocre forwards

ROR is not part of the problem
Is he overpaid by a little (1mil?)
Ok

But we have to do that right now
We can’t get Stamkos to come play here for under 10mil

And NO...
there’s not a 2mil UFA who can come in here & do what ROR does
Unless you’re gonna name names,
then just stop

show case?

or finally out of the dog house from disco sucks dan?

- homiedclown

who knows?...the book on him is that his will always proceeded his skill...he won't be a top-six, or maybe even top-nine forward, but he lays it on the line everytime he's out there and will do whatever's asked of him to the best of his ablility...

also of note, he's 4/14 in the shootout

We can't have an actual conversation if I post facts and you yell "fake news." These stats are the closest thing to objective truth we have. I can't debate your perception, but we can debate these stats. If you're discounting them out of hand, there's nothing to talk about

And come July 1, the Sabres could comfortably fit JT in under the cap, if they so choose, with a healthy remainder. RORs salary isn't preventing any moves

lol yeah let's just keep ignoring the fact that scorekeepers award phantom assists to players but then believe they register giveaways accurately

That’s my point

Even when we try to overpay some guys,
we still can’t get them

So I’m not that worried about the extra 1-1.5mil we had to give O’Reilly to keep him here

I don't lie RoR

I don't hate RoR

I can say that for about half of this team

With reasonable signings to our current players,
We will have 8mil in room next year

If we trade
Beaulieu, Larsson & Girgs, that’s another
5.5mil

If we replace Lehner with a cheaper UFA goalie, that saves another mil or 2

Bogo for a pick still doable?
Another 5mil

We’re now talking about having roughly 20mil in room

That’s more than enough room to make some moves

We could potentially sign Carlson & JvR and still have over 5mil in Cap space

Minor overpayments to ROR & Okposo aren’t the problem

None of this was said.

His importance is over rated.

He’s not a top 30 Center in this league and is paid and deployed like a top 15 Center.

He doesn’t and cannot drive scoring 5 on 5. That’s a problem.

He’s fine on a good team. I agree. We didn’t trade and pay for a compliment, we expected a guy who was going to drive play.

Ok...
but my point is that overpaying a couple guys by a couple million in total isn’t preventing us from making any moves we might want to

Capfriendly has them at 24 mil in projected cap space for 2018-19. We'll see how they use it. There's a few holes to fill for sure

This place is un(frank)ingbelieveable sometimes.... Why do we even try to reason with these guys?

It always spirals into political ramblings and the same 3 or 4 people acting like middle-schoolers.

P.S. Sorry about the wife comment... I'm still not sure if that's an inside joke of yours or not, in all honesty

This is fine.

I care less about the cap hit, and more about the usage or O’Reilly. His minutes should be decreased and they should be rolling 3 lines with guys like Baptiste and Bailey and even CJ Smith next season

A lot of that stuff has been said by YOU and others (just not tonight)

He’s deployed as a top15 center bc we are among the worst teams in the league when it comes to who our 3C & 4C are

His importance is overrated?
Idk about that
I guess it depends on your perspective

Last night, we don’t tie that game without him
And against StL, we wouldn’t have had a chance to tie either

He won EVERY SINGLE offensive zone faceoff late in these past 2 games

That’s pretty damn valuable if u ask me

That doesn’t sound like a “compliment” if u ask me

There’s lots of factors that are holding his numbers down
I listed a whole bunch & u said nothing to refute them

A good 3rd line is important
If it wasn’t,
why would the Pens have played Kessel on it in the playoffs?

The 4th line was super important for them too
They had Cullen out there taking a lot of Def Zone draws so that Malkin & Crosby wouldn’t have to

ALL THIS STUFF MATTERS

It’s really hard to look at numbers without the context

Yeah,
You were right earlier when u said “we were close... to last”
(Clever btw)

But u could’ve also said that about the AVs last year or the Leafs the year before
And so on

We have to add to guys like O’Reilly if we wanna get good
