Patrice Bergeron makes less than ROR
- homiedclown

And there isn't a person on Earth who would take ROR over him.

I implore you to count how many times the (frank)er falls and turns it over from here on out. It's maddening.

According to this, he has 1.9 times as many take aways as give aways

But, to your credit, he's behind armia, compher, girgs and Larsson.

Edit, it means he has 1.9 takeaways for every giveaway

You can't rely on 1 player for all your face-offs and his Lady Byng caliber play is exactly why this team sucks. He's a soft player, just like the rest of the roster.

People blast Zemgus for how often he falls, well, ROR falls just as much and turns it over like a madman. I see at least 5 turnovers a game from ROR, that basically negates his face-off prowess.

- BeadyEyedDouche

Now look up how many turnovers he actually has...
maybe it’ll help u realize just how far your bias affects what you THINK you see

booze

upgraded room with extended balcony

3 high end meals

$50 credit for every shore excursion, we don't do them

$100 on board credit

7 hours internet

trip insurance

If you don't gamble, plan on spending $300 for the couple on shore for the 3 stops

but I bring my own snorkel equipment

- homiedclown

That's not bad. Booze and 3 meals at the fancy place is a ton of money right there, and it was $1,000 for an interior cabin right over the engines. Though I liked the dark, being awakened at 5am when the ship pulled into port was really annoying.

I look at it as 6 plus the extra %25 buffalo tax.

There is never a home town discount.
There is no state tax break
There is no discount for joining a winning team
There is no big city appeal
There is no golf courses are open year round

Where would you have ror at ? What's a fair rate?

- Boss34

everything you laid out is right on...when he was signed, it was gonna cost the Sabres between $7-7.5M, maybe a tad less, but not much less

Well it’s harder to score when u start in your own end... right?

Obviously our defensemen suck at moving the puck up the ice more than most, so that makes it even tougher when ROR is taking all these defensive zone faceoffs

I’d also wager that he expends a lot of energy in the def zone, and plays too many minutes in general (bc we have no one else we can rely on in that area)

So when he does get his offensive chances,
I think it’s safe to say his production is lower than it could be based on being so overplayed in the def zone

Now I’m not saying O’Reilly is Crosby
But you’re going too far with the hate
U look at some numbers that don’t tell the whole story & act as if they do

And all of these stats are impacted by the quality of the team he plays on

U say things like “we aren’t good at defense” and imply that it’s on ROR,
when we have suspect goaltending & crappy defense

It’s not as simple as just looking at 5v5 stats
There’s MUCH more to the story

Especially when u compare a player on a bad team vs one on a good team

- jdfitz77

Read above post

98th in Ozone starts (top end 2nd line)

19 in PP time among forwards.

He’s not a freaking goalie

Takeaways are one of the stats that scorekeepers seem to miss the most. They happen constantly and it seems like only 1-in-5 of them even get registered on the stat sheet, and this is a problem across the NHL.

They can't have their million dollars a year salaried, best players in the world looking like junior players, now can they?

I don't care what a stat sheet says when scorekeeps are well known for awarding phantom assists across the entire league.

What I see, is multiple giveaways per game from ROR. It's not just him, but if you're paying a guy 7.5 million dollars per year to turn the puck over like high school player, you're not going to win very many games, no matter how good he is at face-offs.

We can't have an actual conversation if I post facts and you yell "fake news." These stats are the closest thing to objective truth we have. I can't debate your perception, but we can debate these stats. If you're discounting them out of hand, there's nothing to talk about

Nothing personal taken,

Problem is, when you turn in good seats, you will never get them back. Years of seniority.

Thats the fear. We all love hockey now, still after all these crappy years. Imagine if we were actually good.

It would be an all time kicker

And that's exactly why they know they can raise the prices and people will still pay. It's a business, the object is to make money. Nostalgia, FOMO, sunk cost fallacy...

Like I said, in a league where the scorekeepers are well known for awarding PHANTOM SECONDARY ASSISTS when we have VIDEO PROOF that they don't happen, how on Earth can anyone trust "the stats"?

I have L I T E R A L L Y had the NHL.com Box Score feed open while watching the Sabres games this season, seen a giveaway, gone to check the Box Score, and it doesn't show up. I have L I T E R A L L Y counted in a game where he had 6 giveaways, checked the Box Score after the game, and seen only 1 giveaway registered. Unless they subtract all the takeaways from that number to even out the statsheet, the scorekeepers in the NHL are terrible at their job. Or, corrupt/biased.
