I'm beginning to wonder are the refs beginning to steer these games. I think back to the way the Preds abused the Blackhawks especially Subban slew footing, cross checking, holding, slashing Toews throughout the entire series, is it a coincidence last night they call the goalie interference then allow the high stick goal taking 10 seconds to observe the video. If I wanted to watch something scripted ill watch WWE or boxing...

Rocky, McD, and Bowman have chosen their path. Keep Q and the core, get younger (cost controlled) and faster, and hopefully better. With the NMC's and big contracts that the core has they did not have many options.

If Q objects to the path or upper management object to Q they will part ways. But I do not think that happens (at least not this year or during the Summer). I think they both have taken a longer view and bought off on the idea of trying a youthful retooling while the core is still pretty capable.

Many on here will say the core is now old and trash. But if the youthful supporting cast blossoms I think we will see the core will re-emerge.

Sorry to disagree but Q has to go as part of the rebuild. He's had a great tenure here but this team hasn't produced to its expectations in 3 years now. His coaching style has lost its flair, it happens as evident in Pittsburgh.
His blender, his decisions on personnel have caused head scratching though out the team and I believe they're all sick of it. There's got to be a reason why so many players have seemingly thrown in the towel.
His decision again last night to pull Glass with 210 left in the 3rd period is ridiculous and he's repeatedly done that over the years. Down 2 goals ok, down 1, that's nuts. It only takes seconds to ramp up the intensity for that last surge.

After watching Toews cough it up with a pass to nobody, then Seabrook looking like he was skating with army boots on to try and stop the empty netter, it's obvious that Q's decisions on personnel at the end of the game was outdated and wrong again. Time for a new leader behind the bench, and a new Captain as well.

Would anyone do this trade AA +hartman+ rutta for hayden fluery and 2nd 2018 overpay not enough thoughts anybody. Wingles+kempney for 4th and 6th or 3rd bouma 6th or 7th franson the same
- Scott1977

Essentially what both GM want is Hartman one way, Fleury the other way. Which player has better long term value. A top pair dman over an agitator third line guy. For sure. Then it comes down to the latest updates projection on the key players here. Francis is no dumb cookie. He has an excess of young promising dmen. He likes defensively responsible forwards - three ex Blackhawks on Carolina. I bet Darth Kane interjects how Rask should be included to broaden the trade

I think that's a reasonable viewpoint. I think Q and the coaches go, and a fresh voice comes in before any major changes on the roster.

Even in a Utopian world, where there are no NTC/NMC's and anyone is tradeable, ask yourself realistically what you would get in return, and as a fan are you ready for that possibility.

It's easy to say so-and-so sucks, lets move him, but what are you going to get in return, and even more importantly where does that leave your roster in terms of being competitive.

Any trades of "core guys" for picks and/or prospects means that you are 2 or 3 years away from MAYBE being competitive. If you are sellers at the trade deadline, you are NOT going to get back an immediate difference maker, maybe you get some longer term cap relief. A trade of ANY core player (2/7/19/88/20/50) signals rebuild not reload/retool and means a few years minimum to return to contenders.

There is no such thing a "blow it up and rebuild" or "tanking" like the NBA or MLB. How well has all those years of high picks worked out for EDM? ARZ? etc. You need more that high picks and prospects. Vegas is proving that maybe you can do it without superstars, time will tell if they can keep it up.

Be careful what you wish for. Only last year everyone wanted Hossa gone, this year proves he meant a heck of a lot more than people gave him credit for.

- TheTrob

Correct you cannot total my gut, total rebuild will not work. Your team woul d be so badly outplayed that fans would not tolerate it.

Pass to nobody??? Do you people watch the game??? Pass was going to right on 12's tape but CAL made a better play.

This board should be a Kane luvers not a Chicago Balckhawks board

Yes 19 has been bad along with many others but somehow you 88 CHEERRLEADERS leave him out when again & his line was on the ice when CAL went up 2-1 to win the game

SHOCKING!!!!!!!!

This Kane support or attack on this board is ridiculous. Here is the facts and I mean I am particularly addressing goalie 33: ok, Kane is not responsible defensively as he should be. Throughout the decades top offensive stars often have not been as responsible as they should be...and they get away with it. I say this actually is more pronounced since the watering down of talent due to expansion over the years

Now hear this: if this team was battling hard for a playoff spot you can rest assured that Kane would make a much better effort, defensively, in most of the games. Superior talented players like Kane should never be traded, especially since he is the only core guy left worth anything ( Crawford is a goaltender and I omit him; this is just the five skaters - total core guys is two if Goaltender added).

Due to marketing and for sake of fans' interest, you can not trade Kane. That would be a TOTAL rebuild mode and it would be ruinous. Nobody would watch a team always outplayed. On a bad team at least there is interest and a tad amount of hope with Kane adorning the Indian head.

You just have to draft and develop well. Painful re- tooling for next year. Made worse by not foreseeing the suddeness of Toews & Seabrook decline plus at least this season Hossa departure. If those three were playing and playing better, the team would look better. They might even make playoffs if Q manages dmen usage better and maybe a deadline deal. But such is not the situation.

I think most fans realize how Kane is, goalie 33. And for the record, you do have some good accurate points when you post.

The thing the defines a great coach is making a good team great against other great teams. When they win that way repeatedly, like Q has, it seperates them from mediocrity. However, it's elite coaches who win with average teams, something that Q has thus far been not able to do.

I'd also say that one of the things that makes championship teams is character, the way they play together. And most of that comes from leadership from personnel choice to personnel management.

It's obvious this team doesn't have the same character previous versions had, and that to me, has to be a reflection of Stan, Q, but also just giving these guys time to mesh and grow together.

Also, the third and fourth line have been pretty bad overall. One is looking decent now but not especially consistent.

And Ruuta and Forsling have not been great and Gus and Kempny can be disasters in their own zone.

The supporting cast is inconsistent at best and bad at their worst. Plus not having a starting goalie now doesn't help.

And the power play lol.

Some of these guys start to round out by the years end and things aren't looking so bad for next year with a key veteran acquisition or two. I'd hesitate to completely blow it up right now or do anything too rash.

I recall you were around back in the days of The Daily Herald befire 2010.

Btw BMW vehicles too often are not reliable enough. Many who own them live them and just pay to keep them going. Myself have reliability issue with Volvo xc 90 suv. Same as paying to maintain a bimmer. You do know that high performance and all the electrinucs, sensors, some parts will get replaced. It costs to own these cars and keep running. Never again for me

Maybe another hockey trade like Panarin trade. Must bring in some physical players. Sikura here, maybe one skill guy departs. One solid dman add and a new coach will do wonders.

Do any playoff teams have a HORRIBLE expiring contract? Would they be willing to take on Seabrook's contract? What would the Hawks have to add?How much salary would we have to retain?

Hawks had to trade TT to unload ONE year of Bickell at 4MYA. There aren't enough prospects in our system to get someone to take the boat anchor Seabrook deal. Hawks are stuck.

Can it be considered a rebuild if Seabrook, Toews, Keith, Kane, Crawford, Saad, and AA are all still on the roster? The best hope for moving Seabrook is a compliance buyout if the CBA gets reopened before the 2019-2020 season. Toews could be moved if he improves but if he improves, maybe you keep him. Otherwise, he's a buyout candidate then too. AA and Saad are tradeable, probably be best if they did get traded. Kane and Crawford seem like keepers if the Blackhawks want to be competitive any time soon. Keith is still their best defensemen, I'd keep him as well.

So in all likelihood, the Blackhawks enter 2018-2019 with 2, 7, 19, 50, and 88 all still on the roster. If that is the case, I want Q coaching that team. See what they can do with a focused offseason, improved young guys, and hopefully some talent added to the roster. At the end of next season, reassess. But I hope they keep Q for now.
