On the trade deadline, Bowman said, "I don't expect us to be a buyer this year. It has nothing to do with where we are in the standings. It's just that each season is a little bit different. Your team is different."

Jurco was called for interference the same exact situation. Not enabling Kane calling out the officiating, but i guess hard for you to see that with all that venom

Agree because no established and accomplished GM would work for McD.

Trouble is, Rocky is not a hands on owner like his Dad was. Bill Wirtz would probably be close to firing Stan Bowman by now. This is where McD has to step up. If he can't get it, he'd better be asking his #1 hockey advisor independent of the Bowmans.

Preaching to the choir my friend. But does Bowman get another year to fix it? 2 years? How long is the rope and does he have the ability to make the tough moves to turn this around before 19+88 are 35?
- EnzoD

Different, topic, but I never really saw what you were talking about with Toews until tonight. Weak on his skates, gets pushed around a lot, not nearly as much speed as we have seen in the past, and has a lot of trouble handling the puck.

There has got to be something degenerative with him right? How else do you fall this far this fast?

Hawks cannot win because they play dumb, reckless hockey. First 3 goals against on 3 grade A give-always. Gave the game away - again! Get the puck out of your zone - get it into the other zone. It is that simple. It was sickening to say “what was Duclair doing?” followed by “what was Oesterle doing?” followed by “what the f was Keith doing dancing around in a circle with 10 seconds left refusing to dump the puck in?” The Hawks make you want to scream right now. On the Duclair goal could he have been any more selfish? On the Oesterle goal could he have played any weaker? On the Keith goal could he have been any dumber?

Don’t understand the lines. What is Kane supposed to do playing with Anisimov and Hartman? What kind of line is that? An insane one that’s what. Absolutely nothing 5 on 5. Why can’t DeBrincat play with Kane? The Hawks need Kane to score - a lot but he cannot do it himself. Sit Saad out altogether if you are not going to give him any chance to turn it around. What has happened to the Saad that started the season? Make Duclair prove himself down the line-up.

Time to have Oesterle, Forsling and Rutta ALL at Rockford. It has been an ongoing horror story watching them.

Time for AA to be down the line-up.

My head is going to explode if write any more.

Wow, this team is so bad. I really do not know where to begin. How bout getting a real hockey presence in here instead of a marketing guy. Rocky, please get rid of John McD and bring in some hockey people. The Maple Leafs are a great example.

I hope that Rocky realizes that the party is over and that the renewals are not going to be there next year. Who is going to pony money up for playoff tickets? I assume know one will.

Sucking is fun, it has its perks

No more stress

Not having to sweat it out every night

Getting to kick back, relax, and watch your team get their asses handed to them on a nightly basis can be a blessing in disguise. I'm pumped for these next few seasons!!!

Coach Q up at it again . Insane lines PP useless team struggling .. Time to move that caveman out .Or maybe with his inept steering , this club could make a bottom 5 ...

It would be so key to get a top 5 pick this year. If Sikura turns out to be legit and we can add an impact player in the top 5 of the draft, next year could be a big improvement over this season.

I’d take bottom 5, the team needs a quality draft pick this season.

This is the first truly poor season since 2007/2008, not many teams can say the same thing. I get that frustrations are high, nobody likes losing or watching the core decline. But let’s try to keep some perspective on the situation.

The team will likely end up in a solid draft position this season. That’s great and quite frankly necessary to extend this Cup window. This team also has several young players to get excited about - DeBrincat, Schmaltz, Hinostroza, Hayden, Sikura, Hartman, Forsling and Duclair. Sure, not all of these guy are top 6 material but there’s a good mixture of different types of talent.

I believe next season the vets will bounce back. Maybe not to the peak of their prior performance but certainly better than this season. I’d look to see Saad with a much better season next year.

Maybe we will get the real low down on Toews health issues after the season is over. This could be another Bickell scenario. We all questioned how bad Bickell looked in his last year with the Hawks. Now we sadly know the reason. I really think Toews has a degenerative health problem. It is definitely not normal for somebody that was such a high quality player drastically drop off in all of the skill levels. McD needs to come clean about Toews health.... Toews was destined to go into the Hall of Fame... But his performances the last two years have been subpar.

To start with ... Q and Bowman both get canned on 4/10. Trade whatever you can off this team. Start with DK and go from there.
- z1990z

I really don’t see the sense in waiting, can them both now.

Blackhawks are currently 7 points out of a bottom 5 finish with 5 teams we need to pass, really need to get on a roll here.

As long as they finish bottom 10, the lottery may reward us with some luck and get the Hawks a top 5 pick. Flyers jumped to #2 and were outside the bottom 10 last year.

Exactly this!!! Bill would make Pully fire himself as GM and tell him to head down to the bench!

It's been a bad year but careful what you wish for.

Rebuild starts with three things
1- New President of Hockey Operations
Dean Lombardi
2- Toews to LTIR sign Taveres or Karlsson - UFA July 1
3- Move out the Deadwood starting with Seabrook

Not sure how but do it

You see the tools, but decision making at times has been very poor. He also has made some excellent plays forcing turnovers on the forecheck and moving the puck with accurate passes. This is a development year so he should learn right where he is, next to Toews on and off the ice.
- EnzoD

Duclair with youth, size, speed, skill and his hit is low cap hit will be given a chance by 60-70% of NHL teams. These guys get a lot of looks before they are given up on, as it should be. If he works out you get a player who skates top 6 and checks a lot of boxes...... Even if it busts a good move by Bowman with the cost being Panik, another who will get looks before he's given up on.

Kruger was waived today!!

No coach has been fired in the NHL yet... and that's rare. In every season since 1966-67, there has been at least one coaching change by this point in the season. (per @EliasSports)

Lets hope he learns and improves but at the moment he's not a top 2 line winger on a good NHL team.
- RickJ

Agreed Rick, but this is the perfect season for the Hawks to get a look at a Duclair type with a bunch of rookies and new guys in and out. IMO he has the most speed on this club and thought so from his first game as a Hawk.

Making 1.2 this yr and an RFA next my guess is StanBow signs the kid for a team friendly 2 yr deal. .... He fits the Hawks' younger, bigger, faster mantra and he's cheap too.

Looking at his stats if he went the USHL/NCAA route (drafted by USHL Dubuque in 2001 who's owned by two MN Wild owners and Peter Chiarelli) instead of the video game rat hockey QMJHL he'd be a much more polished player: http://www.eliteprospects...m/player.php?player=98665

Q is owed something like $12M next year... really doubt that the hawks swallow that kind of money.
