I agree on that, but imo its Bergeron who is the one to worry about. not many C in the League I would give the advantage to over Matthews..but he is one of them - senstroll
Oh, don't get me wrong - I think we have plenty to worry about.
I'm just saying when you draw up that list, Chara isn't at the top anymore. |

Bergeron shutdown Matthews pretty handily last game, but do you guys honestly think that's going to happen again and again, forever and ever?
Star players are stars for a reason: they adapt, learn and thrive. I just don't see Matthews as the kind of guy, with the tools he has, getting erased from the scoreboard in a 7-game series.
I think we match-up pretty good against Boston, line for line; it'll be a good series for sure. - gravyface
I disagree. Matthews shut himself down that game. He was brutal. He couldn't handle a pass from 4 feet with no pressure. |

no, Matthews will get his chances. Also Boston wont always get the matchup they want. I still give the edge to Boston on the matchup ..today |

Yep, Chara seems to lose a step every passing day. If he didn't use a 17ft stick he'd be pretty ineffective at this point in his career. |

In all seriousness though. They have 4 really strong defense prospects. Valimaki (LD), Kylington (LD), Andersson (RD) and Fox (RD). All their top-4 is locked up for like 3 more years. Have to imagine one will be moved. Fox being the least likely because he's an NCAA prospect and they have him on the slide for a few more years.
They'd probably trade Michael Stone and replace him with Andersson. Over Brodie or Giordano being replaced. |

I would target the RHD. they are looking for a scoring winger. Maybe JVR fits. I wouldnt do 1 for 1, but a deal around that |

I'd be willing to pony up quite a bit for an RD with term control. Go forward with Rielly, Dermott, Liljebust and the new guy. |

that would be a good trade for both teams.

I think we leave the defense alone.
We need centres more than anything. Next year likely no Bozak or Moore. Who is going to play centre? Not Miro Aaltonen that's for sure and hopefully not Willy |

Yep. I also have a hard time believing Lou trades a top 6 roster player for a D prospect going into the back half of the season/playoffs. |

4th liners not a problem. If we want 3 scoring lines then someone who can get 15 goals/40 points as a third liner won't be easy. |

No idea if Backlund is available. he is very good. so probably not
But Calgary could have thier pick of a couple of these players...Leivo, Sosh, Gauthier, Komarov or Martin to make that kind of a deal |

Backlund will be a UFA as well this year.. I hope he is available
I think it would be a great trade for both teams. |
