Nope. He won't sign. We suck and no bad teams sign good players. Because he's the first in his family to go to college. Because he wants to finish college for his momma. Because he wants a great life after sports. He will risk losing millions to stay.

Just saving others time

This is a good post. I'm no fan of the college UFA rule , but honestly how many players have burnt us by using it. Cal Petersen is confirmed, but Vesey you can't put in that category. He burnt Nashville. We paid a 3rd basically to ask, "Hey, you wanna play for us?" before anyone else could.

It would cost a crazy amount

Worth it if Rosen turns out to be Brett Favre
But what if he turns out to be Jay Cutler?

If we are gonna spend all those picks to move up....
we’d better be right about the guy we take

- jdfitz77

have always thought that a quarterback without a team around him is destined to fail in most circumstances...

bills need way too much to sell the farm for a potential starting quarterback...and that was even before the eric wood news

Todd McShay’s mock draft 2.0

1- Sam Darnold (Cleveland)
2- Josh Rosen (Ny Giants)
5- Baker Mayfield (Denver)
6- Josh Allen (Ny Jets)

Like i was saying a couple weeks ago...
for those of u who want us to get Mayfield,
it looks like we are gonna have to “sell the farm” and trade up to 3rd/4th to make sure we get him

- jdfitz77

Again we miss out on a QB lol we end up with JP

am of the opinion that it's a tad early to be thinking things like that...he could very well be with the Sabres after the Minnesota season ends
- Michael Pachla

I have hope he will I’m still pissed he’s not going to the Olympics

Borgen I worry about because he was a later round pick, won't be NHL ready until or at the end of his college campaign and he hasn't signed yet. How people get so worked up about a kid who we just drafted who would be throwing away millions of dollars potentially...not sure.

OR.. they fix all the other issues with the plethora of picks and get one next year or thre free agency or both.. you cant draft a quarterback and put him in a position to lose.. that offensive line is atrocious no rookie can be good behind that thing

McShay has the Bills taking:

21- Rashan Evans LB (Alabama)
22- Da’ron Payne DT (Alabama)

Some notable guys he has us passing on:
WR Christian Kirk (Texas a&m)- 24
CB Josh Jackson (Iowa)- 28
OT Mike McGlinchey (Notre Dame)- 30

And no other QBs taken in the 1st round...
Although, I think it’s possible, even likely, that Lamar Jackson (Louisville) & Mason Rudolph (Oklahoma St) could also go in the 1st somewhere

Fair point
But in the same respect,
filling all those holes gets us nowhere if we can’t get a franchise QB

At this point, it's all dependent on if the player likes the organization. If the player feels valued, I doubt he will leave.

I would try to sign Keenum (i know a lot of u guys don’t like him, obviously i do).....
And then draft Mason Rudolph

That way if Keenum doesn’t work out,
we still have a talented QB that we are grooming

I'm afraid they keep Tyrod, his contract and all the restructuring they did with it will hurt the cap this year and next.

nick foles was not a franchise quarterback, but had a great team around him...brady is the goat and had little around him (nor could he play defense)...

blake bortles is...well...blake bortles...he and a great team around him almost took out the goat...

jim Kelly was beaten by jeff Hostetler and mark rypien in consecutive superbowls...

just sayin

We should sign Borgen after this season
Get him playing in Rochester

Hopefully they change this stupid rule soon

I don’t even get the point of it?

My odds:

10% signs before the end of the season
85% signs this summer
5% returns to school

It’s certainly a possibility,
but tough to imagine that either side wants that

Doesn’t seem like we want Tyrod
And it sounds like he’s so fed up with the situation that he’d just like to move on

Those are the exceptions,
not the rule

We haven’t had a franchise QB since Jim Kelley (maybe Bledsoe for 2 yrs)

How many times have we made the playoffs in that span?

I rest my case

It happens so rarely, "who cares" is my prerogative. There's a couple around the league every year, but nothing to call a pattern that I see. When's the last time a top10 player walked on his draft team? Radulov? Wheeler? Rads played a couple seasons. Wheeler did the true walk off.

What was that 2005? I aint lookin', but can say it has been some time. I'd imagine the "risk" we are talking about has occurred less than 5 times in the past 50 years.

Yeah...
the Cap for this coming year is rough

We are pretty much screwed no matter what

I think this year is gonna be a step back

But i do think we are moving in the right direction overall

that's not the full story...a big part of that is having the patriots dynasty in the same division which severely hindered their chances...coaching, schemes, coaching changes, poor drafts, poor cap management and luck, are just a few of the other reasons the bills have been languishing in mediocrity for 17 years and hadn't made the playoffs until last season

Sure, but wild card spots were available
And it’s not like we didn’t have good running backs for pretty much that entire time
Top10, even top5 defenses some of those years as well
WRs have been pretty decent for the most part

QB has been the one constant we were missing

If u wanna win consistently in today’s nfl...
get a franchise qb

Of course, u have to build around him

But without that QB,
your chances are less likely to get where we wanna go
