Putting them together(mittelstadt, baptiste etc) on the third line is a real shot. Not with guys like josefson, young players with legit skill mostly matched up against not the other teams top defenders/forwards.

It's a chicken and egg scenario. The sabres will never know what they have playing him 8 minutes a night on the 4th line. When I saw that goal last year, it got me excited, but then on this call up he was scratched 2/4 games, and the only game where he hard a decent line pouliot-erod-baptiste, he also scored a highlight goal.

Idk, I think he's earned it, but he's not gonna get a shot on Eichel's line this year because Okposo is doing well, and Reinhart is wih ROR, and 3C is a wasteland of bad options

I dont know the answer but, if they only played say ten shifts together, then that would be a pretty good percentage. If they had played ten games together thats a whole different story.
Some guys can play and finish with elite talent, some guys cant. Baptiste had no problem scoring goals with mcdavid in erie. Of course a guy like that (or eichel) makes it easier to score but some guys just dont have that level of finish where they can really take advantage of an elite linemate. I would like to think he is one of those guys. His speed wont hurt anyone either.

Im talking about a decent chunk of minutes with high end skill against lesser competition and maybe some PP time. Seems like an ideal way to bring your younger group into the NHL.

For now maybe, but it's not like management would sour on him because hes not producing with those guys.

Hes earned the chance to play with some talent at the nhl level, I just wouldn't put the pressure of first line play on his plate right away.

Yeah 4 goals in 20 odd games, but when he played with Eichel, they combined for a highlight reel goal. I'm just saying, at some point they have to stop playing fiddle sticks and give the kid a real shot to put the puck in the net. That means top 6 or top nine with an upgraded the 3C imo

The sooner we lock up 30th place (top 5 pick with buffaluck) the sooner we see these future guys. Need to keep losing: then hopefully the last 8 games or so we can mitts and cj, or other college fa signings

Sure, but it has to be a legit 3rd line with ~15 minutes a night. They can't play them every other time it's their turn for ~9 minutes and say they gave them their chance. Sitting around too long and you get cold, your muscles tighten up and you can't go out there and give max effort for 40 seconds. So then that leads to getting yelled at and further time between shifts in a vicious cycle that ends back in Rochester.

Or call it the 3rd line and then because Nolan is having a "good" game peel one guy off the line and reward Nolan with time on the 3rd line.
