I love Zucc, as you know. Comment based on zero goals since December 19, but bolstered by 10 assists, six in last four games. Plus, he hasn't looked great at all times recently.
- airjan23

With all due respect, Jan. That's extremely thin. "This year hasn't gone as well as expected" is because he hasn't scored since December 19?
"he hasn't looked great at all times recently"... well who has? He also played while still having the flu...

Jesus Christ how fast you guys forget...

Zuke would probably sign another deal at 4.5 per. And you expect his return in a trade to top that kind of value he brings for the $$$...?

Sounds like a bad decision!

Edit: too bad you guys don't understand Norwegian...

I mean, it's personal for Peter to discuss Zucc being traded, so personally out of respect for him I'll refrain from doing so

you're not assuming wrongly...

If selling by the deadline to acquire only upper first rounders, or packages for picks in even the top 10 in key, then fine. But prior to the draft, or any reconstruction of this team's makeup in any means, thee FIRST move has to be with that being done under a new coaching staff behind the bench with a new system.
It may also require a new GM to make most of, if not all of these moves and negotiations as well, should Jeff Gorton not see eye to eye with a new staff. As Jan said, why not at least negotiate to bring Nash and Grabner back? How about all the young RFA's needed to be re-signed? Was Hank made aware of a possible roster tear down to take place? How will he feel no matter how much he loves being in New York City and playing here?
If those above Gorton want the coaching staff replaced, then who is the ultimate to decide who will comprise the new staff? If it's not Gorton, then he may also be needed to be replaced. That's all of greater importance FIRST, prior to any MAJOR SIZE roster shakeup or sell off taking place, (except for the UFA's they can't afford to lose for nothing). Even worse, all this to be suddenly done all within just one month of today or sooner, just for the sake of making one, without having an exact long term plan in mind to return to contention immediately for next season & beyond.

Lower 1st round draft picks will not make contenders within Hank's career. Even our top pick this year is only being rushed to Hartford and the mid 1st round pick isn't on the NHL roster either.

If they blow it up for picks and prospects the 2nd thing that has to go is Hank (unless he stands in his own way and wants to stay). The first thing that has to go is AV and Ruff

you never know what they could do with the $$$ created when and if the purge happens, they could be big players this summer in UFA and other trades too

Which contending teams need a goalie? I'm honestly not trying to be combayive here on this topic. I can think of two teams that could use Henrik Lundqvist. The Islanders and the Flyers. There is no market for Lundqvist.

I agree with this, I don't see any trade for Lundqvist happening, I don't see the Rangers even considering dealing with the public outcry of still keeping some of his cap hit and I don't see a team all that interested in him

I get both points and agree with the challenge but it has to be considered.

Best answer I have off the top of my head is Pittsburgh. Murray does not look like the player they thought he was and the other 2 are unproven at best. Don't ask me to solve the cap issue that presents though

if Pittsburgh is your best answer it REALLY has no chance of ever happening

Rangers and Isles are a perfect match to make a huge trade but it will never happen lol
