Jake and MDZ did challenge Lewis last night but said his hand was taped . I think that's bullsh1t that's his problem not yours - VANTEL
Didn't a Canuck get suspended for fighting with a taped hand a bit ago? (Guddy...?)
I get wanting to retaliate, but is there some semblance of a code? I'm sure fighting a guy knowing he has a busted hand ain't that cool. Would rather them make a heavy hit/shot on Kopitar or Doughty at that point. |

Maybe if we were losing...i see the logic.
plus the kid is in the doghouse, probably not as keen to take risks as a DD would be. - dbot

That's what i mean, he was probably tentative about firing up the Kings and letting them back in the game by taking a penalty (to say nothing of the wrath of the coach) |

I-Mac reading the blog again...
http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...among-rebuilding-canucks/
"What makes the outcry for toughness – for players to protect young guys like Boeser – confusing is that Dorsett and Gudbranson were frequently criticized, by fans and the media, even disparaged by many bloggers, when they played due to their relatively high salaries and relatively low possession numbers". - dbot
Dorsett fought way more than EG. And was more physical game in and out. Not fair to put them in the same category. He cost a 3rd round pick and made 2.5M, not a cap crippling salary.
Apples to oranges. |

They have 10 fighting majors this season, which ranks in the middle of the NHL, and Dorsett had four of them. Defenceman Erik Gudbranson has two — the only other Canuck with more than one fighting major. |

Dorsett has 4 in way less games. That guy was a warrior for us for sure. He also threw a lot of hits and brought energy.
No one can say with a straight face that EG has been a warrior for this team.
One guy made 2.5M and cost a 3rd round pick to acquire. Expected to be a 4th kind energy player.
One guy cost a former 1st round prospect + 2nd and is demanding big money long term. Expected to be a top 4 dman. Instead he’s been a wasteman. |

If Lewis refuses to fight the only revenge they could’ve gotten is trying to run Doughty or Kopitar.

I know who DD is.
But Guddy is 2nd in fights.
That says more about what the team is lacking rather than Guddy is a warrior. |

My point was it might hurt JV's career chances by keeping him in the doghouse. |

right - VanHockeyGuy
I mean you can sort of force him into fighting by “jumping” him right away like how Hutton fought recently.
But who was going to do that with the Sedins, Edler and Horvat on the ice? |

Brock's revenge was way sweeter imo.
That was just perfect.
But hey, taking a mindless penalty and getting benched seems to be the preferred move around here. |

A goal is the best revenge and a good deterrent as well. But once the game is in hand I’m 100% on board with sending a message. Taking a penalty to stand up for your rookie star player when you’re up 6-2 is hardly an issue.
I doubt even Green would mind. If it’s a close game then it’s a different story. |

So it is better to send a message that is ok to hit our teams stars is a better solution? what happens if Brock gets a concussion or broken collar bone. |

He’ll be back.

I asked Volkov if Tryamkin will ever return to Vancouver, " He talks about it, he wants to go back someday. He will give it 1 more shot when he's ready." #Canucks
