Ah ok, I haven't played pubg.

Fortnite really is insanely fun, especially with your buds and some headsets. Servers have been down for about 10 hours now I think.

I know all the young canuck players have been playing. JT Brown on anaheim is a twitch streamer of fortnite and hes played with boeser, stecher, hutton and virtanen

No need, I’m all good. I think Boeser handled it just fine, maybe a little stare down or something towards the penalty box would have been appropriate.

I’m trying to have a conversation, you seem to think that you are right and anyone who has a different opinion doesn’t get it. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

As I said, this will happen again, most likely with no consequence.

We'll have another "conversation" then.

I really don't see that as the central problem facing the Canucks. The game is moving away from having plugs like dorsett and Eg in the lineup. Get with the times!

The amount of fights league wide is half of what it was 5 years ago.

Game just started and EP already has a goal

Looks like he is getting used to Center. He seemed to slow down a bit when he moved from the wing.

I didnt have any problem with it for a couple reasons

1) This wont be even close to the worst hit Brock takes in his career. Green knows this and is sending him the message that he has to be tough. Brock will be a target and he'll have to be aware

2) He knows his team doesnt have the guys capable of doing anything except embarrass themselves. It does no good for Green to call out the organization, management and his players for a style they are not suited for. Virtanen's 2 NHL fights are against Filip Forsberg and 5'10" Bobby Farnham; I can almost guarantee that it would've been a seatbelt fight that would have sent the same message as doing nothing

I agree with this. The league has changed from the Rock'em Sock'em days and IMO had the Canucks won vs the Bruins the copycat league would have followed suit faster

2 players challenged Lewis to a fight and he pussied out. I’m fine with it.

You and I disagreed on the finer points of fisticuffs in the game of hockey. I don’t think that anything either of us has to say will change the others mind. But “advanced” (I so hate this term) stats are exactly what shows the “big picture”. They measure the likelihood of an outcome with a degree of certainty based on a reliable set of data points.

As far as when (if) Gudbranson is gone? That guy is not the answer. He isn’t “tough to play against”. There are 31 NHL coaches who if given last change, would not hold their #1 line on the bench if @guddy44 was on for the face off.

- 1970vintage

This is exactly it, correct on both points IMO. Same with Dorsett and the rest of the no-talent knuckle draggers. If you can be physical and defensively reliable, I'm all for it.

I'm all for having some tougher guys, I think Kane would give us some swagger. Even if the guy is a bit of a punk, he'd beat the crap out of anyone on this team and is not afraid to do so. Either way, my point is: you can't sacrifice toughness for defense/ability/speed in today's NHL. If you can get a guy that can do all those things, where they bring toughness as well (because it's a bonus, not something you go out of your way for).

Where did you get this photo of me? Men aren't supposed to like fashion right? They drink beer and watch sports, but if they dance and like clothes they're pussies? Smack the wife around maybe grab an ass here and there, what's wrong with that?

They have, because they can actually play defence.

Swagger and emotion are something this team lacks but unfortunately those come with success (or if you're programmed to go balls-out like Dorsett). The team is composed of young kids, old guys and cast offs and together they are not a group the rest of the league is concerned with, and wont be until they make them

Best quote from this...

I agree with this 100%. I’m all for toughness as well, but not at the cost of overpaying and overplaying a player, like overpayment with the Gudbranson trade and like how WD overplayed Dorsett in the top 6 + even the PP sometimes.

Also, toughness is a team mentality. The soft/diving teams that won a poop load of games had guys willing to fight over the years(Sestito, Kassian, Bieksa, etc.) but they didn’t have each other’s backs at all times, or even their own backs. Having one or 2 face punchers doesn’t change that.

I think some people still can’t get over 2011. Guys like Horvat and Boeser aren’t going to just let some midget punch them in the face repeatedly and do nothing about it. And look at most of the dirty hits thrown around the league, almost all of them are thrown by non-goons. Just regular players who play on the edge. Not some 230lb goon that outweighs everyone on both teams. You don’t need to be a heavyweight to challenge a guy like Lewis, and JV/MDZ aren’t known for that but they did.

Establish team toughness when you’re developing the next core of Canucks in the AHL/NHL.

Ok. According to this "stats" site, Floida is not so good on defense.

I dance like a Greek God, have a murse that I bought in Italy, ferment my own cider from my own apples, watch hockey, enjoy hockey fights and stopped fighting myself in my mid 20's when I got married, the first time.

Just because someone likes physicality it doesn't turn them into a misogynistic pig, I've been banned for calling out people on this forum who actually think like the second half of your statement states.

I also own three chainsaws and spent the windstorm clearing the road as a firefighter and people's driveways as a neighbour. My truck is probably the biggest of anyone's here and it's not an extension of anything, I use it to haul gravel and pull my excavator around.

According to your statement I don't exist, take it back or I'll dig a hole in your driveway so you can't get to work.

Gilman on Virtanen: Here's a guy who's a big body, can skate like the wind, has a great release. He's still a player who can be a top-six forward, and that needs to be fostered. He needs to be held accountable, but he shouldn't be the protector of everyone on the ice #canucks
