Interference is a joke in this league. I get legitimately angry like 5 times a game

yet they've managed to finish in the basement during 3 out of 4 years under Benning anyway while trading away picks and handing out 36M to Eriksson.

Its a shame cause the foundation is there for a really great team, its just missing the Eichel/matthews/mcdavid piece.

Who knows, maybe this year

Yeah, I'd say they need a #1 dman more than a top line center though.

Petersson has #1C potential, Horvat is a young #2 C. Boeser a young top line winger. They have a goalie in Demko who's progressing similar to the way Schneider did.

Juolevi is their only legit dman prospect and he's more of a future #2/#3 guy at best.

It's what we thought vegas was (i know extreme example). It's tough, all the pieces are there.

I used something similar for soccer (much smaller scale) to get my last job so it'd be cool if i could make something work for me.

If the guy who thinks chimera is better than Eichel can get one than anyone can

- Sabresfan-365

Well good luck sir!

The problem with analytics in general is that u need so many different stats to tell the story

And comparing say,
O’Reilly’s role on a bad team
and
Toews role on a good team
Etc etc etc

Is apples & oranges bc of so many other factors than just points & shots against & icetime, etc etc

It works for baseball bc it’s a 1 on 1 matchup every at bat
Hockey is a flowing game with so many variables

(frank) totally forgot about pettersson. wanted him last year, that guys a keeper. Was hoping his draft stock would fall cause of his weight. A year of bulking and AHL time he'll be good to go

How was that not interference against Vancouver when Eichel attempted to enter the zone, actually, twice?

I'd be very interested in seeing how often a player who is producing at a strong rate with lesser minutes continues to produce at the same rate with more minutes because it sure seems like an almost auto default for the stat devotees that those players will always do that if given the added ice time.

Right, but the per 60 makes sense when there is such a discrepancy in ice time, like there is between O’Reilly and Perrault.

Of course Perrrault isn’t going to keep up when over the 3 years, he’s played hundreds of less minutes.

And I know that’s what you are saying, but what I’m saying is it’s an “efficiency” stat and not to be used to rank players.

It’s my opinion Perrault could fill the role. I’m not right until he actually would or have to

- sbroads24

And we'd never know because in all likelihood he'll(and other players when you compare massive differences in ice time) never be put in that situation.

Thanks dude. It is tough, but i like a challenge so we'll see where this goes. I agree though, findings through analytics in baseball tend to yield clearer results/understanding of players.

Hockey's still in it's infancy regarding these sorts of stats, who knows where it will go.
