When people say ROR isn't good

We do have speed & skill coming
(Nylander, Bailey, Baptiste, Mittelstadt, etc)

I’d rather be replacing guys like Pouliot, Larsson & Girgensons in the top9 than O’Reilly & Reinhart

- jdfitz77

Speed sure , skill not so sure
Casey has both.
Nylander, bailey and Baptiste arn't exactly showing tons of skill or scoring

They've got the same amount of 5v5 points and primary points. ROR's career high in goals was on the wing (28) outside of that his career high is 21.

ROR is probably better but the gap isn't massive. Certainly not more than whatever assets you could get for ROR in a deal (although kinda hard to gauge his value)

- Sabresfan-365

This year?
Or over say the last 3 or 4
40 games is way too small a sample size
ESP when one player is on a good team & another is on a horrible one
And the gap is MASSIVE
Perrault wouldn’t even make it to camp for Team Canada
Meanwhile, O’Reilly was starting for them
There’s a reason for that
ROR is good
Perrault is average

Also...
what are we getting if we trade ROR?
If it’s just a 2nd pair defenseman, then why overpay with ROR?
We just traded Foligno & Ennis for one

Not all 2nd pair guys are equal. Risto is likely a 2nd pair on a great team and hes miles ahead of scandella.

i haven't looked at last year and the year before

Ok...
but why use Casey to “replace” a good player like ROR
IMO, we should just “add” him

While Nylander, Bailey, Baptiste, etc etc
are still question marks
Subbing them in for guys with no future here makes sense

It's an interesting question. In one sense, I'd take 'future considerations' just to get rid of a bad contract. In reality, you're probably taking on a bad contract (albeit shorter) and getting picks/prospects. I'd imagine his worth is less than a Kane rental.
- Lunaion

Wow, that's not a good return. Future considerations.
I guess I was hoping for half what we paid.

Russian playing in the olympics
Russian playing hard hitting d
Jt 3rd line center comptner
2nd round pick?

With kane's value dropping by the game, that's scary.

I'm sure there would be Drury truthers had advanced stats existed in '06.

"He's decent offensively, but is his faceoff value worth a new contract?"

What’s Perrault’s OffZone starts vs O’Reilly’s?

I agree, I like ror. I think he's a good #2 center.
Rather add than subtract him.
He's does look a bit heavier this year and slowed by possibly a sore wussy from losing or bad back

Just wondering his hockeybuzz value

Bored of Kane value arguments, none of us know. Pretend it's a 1st + good prospect. I don't think RoR is worth that. RoR wouldn't net Zadorov straight up now. I don't think he'd get Compher and a 2nd. Would love to be wrong, but 5x7.5 (after this year) hurts his value a ton.

Still waiting for an answer on what Kane’s value was a few weeks ago & what it is now in your opinion...

I’d rather have an overpaid ROR & Okposo,
than replacing them with average guys like Perrault

And how much “overpaid” are they even?
1 mil?

Kane's value is definitely not UP.

Guy's that are playing in the nhl and are barely noticeable on the 3Rd line are not worth as much as a guy who was leading his team in scoring for half the season.

Same guy. Cold as ice.
2 goals in the last 17 games.

That's terrible, value continues to drop
