A couple of thoughts...

-Based on reasearch over the past couple of months; ROR is producing at an average 2C rate historically. The issue with him is his contract, which decreases his Value. I.e. Theortically one could replace his production at a lower cost...around $5M. Value should be the central discussion point, not production.

-we have seen, albeit in a small sample size, the impact on the Sabres without having ROR in the faceoff circle. It ain’t pretty, in fact it is rather pathetic.

- the fact our Centers, sans ROR, can’t win a faceoff should be an issue the team needs to focus on in future development. I envision this as the next frontier for Jack. Having two studs in the FO circle would help drive possession numbers.

-Mitts will likely be eased into the league on the wing. However, as he develops, he needs to displace ROR as the 2C, and we have seen what force he can be there from the WJ20’s. Having him do so, enables the Sabres to leverage a ROR in a trade in 2-3 years. That is invaluable.

-Kane’s trade value has not decreased based on playing on the 3rd line with players who would struggle to stay in the AHL on most other teams...especially with a) his style of play is perfect for the playoffs, b) 8 years of history versus the last 4weeks
I ask, if he scores a hat trick tonight, does that mean ‘Couver Unloads the cupboards for him? Lol, if so they should center the entire gameplane on feeding him the puck 270 times tonight.

Have to take in consideration that your game changers are making 10m a year .
Good players 6-7
Decent one 3-5.
Every team needs those younging on the entry level .9m contract to play like the 6-7m players .
Plus don't forget this is 2018.

I’d be fine with doing this but the bottom line is we need to get faster, not slower.

One of ROR or Reinhart IMO need to be replaced with speed

- sbroads24

We do have speed & skill coming
(Nylander, Bailey, Baptiste, Mittelstadt, etc)

I’d rather be replacing guys like Pouliot, Larsson & Girgensons in the top9 than O’Reilly & Reinhart

Why not replace both? get speed in the top 6, value in the bottom 6

Why not? Perrault is excellent

Better option - A good defensemen that O’Reilly can fetch (because he is a good player, just not worth his cap hit

- sbroads24

A guy who’s CAREER HIGH in goals is 18, and points is 45 is “EXCELLENT”

This is why we argue so much
You undervalue our guys & overvalue those in other teams

Saying Perreault is even “good” is pushing it... but excellent... come freaking on
That’s ridiculous

Bc i don’t think ROR is the problem

Sam, i haven’t given up on yet
Happy that he’s finally playing well this year

Girgensons is faster than O’Reilly
Doesn’t mean he’s a good idea at 2C

There’s more to the game than just speed

And since we have speedy wingers coming,
it makes more sense to replace some of the average (at best) wingers we have in the top9

What should RORs cap hit be?

And what defenseman can we get for him?
Bc we got a 2nd pair guy in Scandella for WAY less than ROR
So unless we are getting a “top pair” guy,
then trading ROR doesn’t make sense to me

They've got the same amount of 5v5 points and primary points. ROR's career high in goals was on the wing (28) outside of that his career high is 21.

ROR is probably better but the gap isn't massive. Certainly not more than whatever assets you could get for ROR in a deal (although kinda hard to gauge his value)

What is an acceptable trade return on ror?

Sure his contract is a tad bit high, but we bought out some years of ufa.

Also : he's a decent player who was willing to be traded to our special home town sabres.

He's being paid 7.5 , probably worth what 6.25- 6.5

That's the price of tanking and running a losing organization

It's an interesting question. In one sense, I'd take 'future considerations' just to get rid of a bad contract. In reality, you're probably taking on a bad contract (albeit shorter) and getting picks/prospects. I'd imagine his worth is less than a Kane rental.

Thank you,

6 per for the next 4 years is about right. Maybe a bit of a value. For a top 10 #2 center who leads the nhl in face off % and ice time.

I really don't think sabres fans have seen what ror can bring to the table.

Canada ror is a winner.
Buffalo ror is fighting for the top pick every year

Losing takes its toll, especially on a plyer like ror.
He's somewhat of an over achiever. 2nd round pick?
