Yeah, it's great that the US is looking up and they are "closing the gap" but by like 20 feet when the gap is a mile. That's obviously hyperbole, but you get the point.
- Wetbandit1

The US is close to on par. Especially as guys like Toews, Bergeron and Crosby age

Eichel
Matthews
Kane
Middlestadt (down the road)
Hanifin
Seth Jones
Werenski
Johnny Hockey
McAvoy

I never said either. (I know you said not specifically me)

But I would still move O’Reilly. I think he’s good, but over rated. (I know we won’t agree on that)

I think in a year or two he becomes a bad contract. Dude is aged in terms of hockey

I think ROR could actually get us quite a bit on the market. He has a great reputation (notwithstanding drive-thru's at Tim Horton's) as a face-off winning, two-way player. While I would be 100% fine with keeping ROR (strength down the middle), I would be 100% fine if Botts can turn him into an excellent young d-man who will be part of the future for the next 10-years.

Regarding Kane, take the 1st and prospect and run. He is definitely replaceable at a much lower salary versus what some are reporting on this site ($7 X 7).

foot speed
- Sabresfan-365

U think his foot speed will drop?
Again, he’s 26

I wouldn’t think that till he’s in his 30s at least

I actually think his reputation makes him over rated.

He’s talked about as a top 25 Center. He’s falling out of that category, quickly

He’s kind of an old 26 year old.

He’s played a ton of games and has back issues

Jesus christ. Heres the sequence of events:
He said a woman in the crowd looked like jodie foster.
I said theres nobody in the crowd that looks like jodie foster.
YOU threw out the comment about gay women.
I said that you said it, not him.
Now youre saying he in fact said it when he meant a different actress all along.
He was talking about a look alike not making a joke about her sexuality afterall.

And to top it all off the racist joke has also been around on here for a while regarding things that arent racist at all (people saying weird poop.). It was a joke in regards to your ridiculous comment.
Now youre telling me to lighten up and not be pc after you made the distinction.
Wow.

Still waiting to hear what u think Kane will get us NOW vs a couple weeks ago?

Just how much do u think his value has dropped?

Word.
I just misinterpreted what u were saying
My bad

One thing that worries me about Kane’s value...

If NyR drop out of the playoff race & decide to trade Nash & Grabner
That could give some of the teams interested in Kane the option to fill their need for cheaper

Hopefully NyR starts winning again
As long as they’re close, i think they’ll add & not sell off pieces
Missing the playoffs is generally not acceptable for them

- jdfitz77

Yea i worry more about the Potential players that could become available if a team drops out of the race. I feel like there could be a guy moved that no one is talking about or isnt rumored to be moved that can change the whole market.

not that it will drop, that the game in the next few years will be so deeply focused on speed that his once average foot speed will look below average.

Im not saying it will definitely happen but it has at times looked that way. It could have to do with his back issues though

- sbroads24

Ok... if these back issues become chronic then i could see it affecting him

I guess I’m just not worried about it yet

And to the games played point...
he hasn’t been in the playoffs much, so i suppose that helps when compared to some other guys

Also...
do NHL games count more as games played than if someone played those games in Juniors or the AHL

Yeah, and how could either of us have known that?

I circle back to "people say weird poop on here all the time" Homie was just posting half a page of gibberish.

Would u be against going after Tavares then too?
Or is he just so good that u feel he could overcome the new speed of the NHL?

I mean this all sincerely too
I’m wondering just how much “speed” will really change the game
And if that will eliminate the effectiveness of some good players

He's got a couple things going for him in that regard:

Best faceoff guy in the league, that won't change for many years (Not saying first every year)

Good PK

Underrated shot in close for PP stuff.

Even when he slows down, they just need to get him faster wingers or move him to Eichels LW to take his draws.

I think his playmaking abilities/raw talent overcome that. ROR's schtick has always been two way play, hard work and chipping in offensively, not necessarily skill based. If he knows where he needs to be but is late getting there it presents a problem.

The PK has been brutal the whole time he has been here...Its not all on him but he obviously hasn't had a positive impact in that regard.

The powerplay is basically Risto and Eichel so if the selling point is 7.5 mil for in close powerplay goals and faceoffs he's in trouble.

Yep, and when your excuse is "that's not who he meant" like we could possibly know that. You're either A) just trolling, in which case, great job, or B) A moron. Take your pick.

Maybe. I think he has tons of value, and 20g 57ish points a year is pretty good for a second line center (I know, usage-wise he s closer to a 1C). Like I said, I'm open to trading him in 18 months or 2 and a half years if Mittelstadt or another proves they can be a bona fide 2C. Until then, why create problems you don't need by trading ROR?

I’m assuming u mean O’Reilly & not Tavares

Anyone know how Mittelstadt is on faceoffs?
That’s an area Jack REALLY needs to work at

It would be nice if ROR didn’t have to take every damn faceoff for us

Or at least if Larsson or Girgensons or Asplund, etc could become our “Gaustad” to relieve “Drury” (ROR) from some defensive responsibility
