this is nonsense

bad hit, should be suspended, but to come in here and say one of the best wingers in the league has no talent is just absurd.

- RickJames77

This.

That has always been the most frustrating part to me. The fact that the guy has all the talent in the world and doesn't need to play this way. I'd still take him on my team, and 2 more just like him. But, he doesn't seem to be a decent human being.

He is a multiple time repeat offender, this should be more like 8 to 10 games rather than 2 or 3? Just my opinion.
- devfan30

If you're a good enough player it seems like they ignore any prior history of suspension. This will be the 9th time he's had disciplinary action taken against him, not including warnings (6 suspensions, 3 fines). What would a fourth liner get for his 9th time? Would he even still be in the league at that point? Marchand will get two games which is probably what someone with no suspension history would get. Maybe they tack on a third game but I doubt it.

He will get around 4 games maybe 5, there is no defending the hit. However all you Trolls can go fist yourself all day long.

Should have fleshed that out. I don't mean no talent, but I don't think he's at the same level if he doesn't play with that edge.

Marchand also has a history of being concussed so he was just protecting himself with the elbow up in a danger area, not saying it was right because it was not. I have to admit I love Brad Marchand and every team in the league could use a fiery spark plug like this guy, love him or hate him he is a dandy.

Hey Tony, he is a decent human being. He just plays with an edge and has more heart than anyone his size in the nhl. I have seen him interviewed many times off the ice and he is a first class individual, nothing in his interviews would indicate the animal he can be in game conditions. He is full survival mode at all times and is a winner, arguably the best line in the nhl and he is the catalyst.

You’re a (frank)ing moron if you believe Marchand isn’t a dirty player. An amazing player, but dirty none the less.

I dont really know how i feel about this play. It was a weird play but he wasn't even looking at him... and he gets him as he is falling. He definitely tags him with that elbow but to say that he intentionally elbowed him in the face is a stretch.

I will say this though. Marchand does do this type of move quite often when trying to avoid people against the boards. He just so happened to connect with him. So it does make it look vicious. IMO it should have just been a penalty, but it is Marchand so he will get a brief suspension.

To whoever said Marchand has no talent. Keep it moving.

I wonder if this will interfere with the All Star Game??

Hows careers or lives has Marchand ruined or impeded?

Who were the victims that Cooke and Torres retired?
You can defend his actions if you'd like but he obviously hasn't learned from the multitude of mistakes and attempts to injure. Thus far he is just lucky not have caused permanent issues

He doesn't "play with an edge", he's a dirty player. If this was a 15 point 3rd or 4th line guy we were talking about no one would dispute that. Maybe he's a great guy off the ice, I don't doubt that, but on the ice he plays dirty and has never really been held accountable.

If stevens hit him, Johansson would have a sure spot in the hall of fame in a decade.

I’m a HUGE Flyers fan and don’t blame Stevens for the hit. Elbows down, and he finished a clean check. Sad that Lindros, for all his talent, never learned to keep his head up. Marchand on the other hand, lead w the elbow. If Gudas got 8, and they are both multiple offenders, so should Marchand. Fair is fair, but we are dealing w DOPS. They never get it right!

We'll see, but they deal with moneymakers differently than everyone else. Marchand sells seats, I'll be he gets less than Gudas got.

I don't know how I feel about the hit... There's no defending Marchand, everyone knows his history, and he's not going to be given the benefit of the doubt.

I just think it looks completely different in slow motion than it did at 100% when the play initially happened. When I saw the play live, I didn't think anything of it... it seemed like he's trying to get to the front of the net, and he gets pinched off and goes flying. Upon multiple angles and slow motion replays, it does look like he intentionally throws an elbow, but we all now how slow motion can make things appear differently than seeing things at full speed.

I think because of his history, he'll probably get a couple of games. If it's anyone else they're probably looking at a fine, or we're not even discussing this at all.

Almost took out Erik Karlsson too. Though that's more arguable whether or not it was intentional.

Glove Was Stuck said, "Hows careers or lives has Marchand ruined or impeded?" in response to Cooke and Torres getting different treatment. So yeah, Cooke ruined Savard's career and life. Granted. No one should argue that.

Which player's career/life did Torres wreck? Because if the answer is no one, then why should he and Marchand get different treatment?

And FWIW, as a Flyers fan, I would have given Gudas 25 games minimum for his stick swinging incident earlier.

lol .. somebody call 911

I have been watching and playing hockey for 25 years and I have never seen someone even come close to reacting that way with his elbow, not only is he a piece of garbage on the ice but he also is lying on national TV. He should get 6 games.
