Raffl is cheap, versatile, and is a good possession player.

Why would we trade him?

- johndewar

Raffl is not that cheap and I would like to make room for Lindblom, Frost, Rubstov, Martel, Vecchione, Ratcliffe, Laberge, Vorobyov, and Aube-Kubel. Granted only 3-4 of them are likely to become NHL regulars but Raffl is a known quantity, his game isnt going to get much better. The more spots we open for these guys, the quicker we find the right players. I will add we also need to move out the Lehteras, Filppulas, and Weisses of the team, but yea... thats why I trade Raffl.

I want no part of Toews on that contract. That thing makes AMac look underpaid.

the contract that is identical to patrick kanes? lol

Don't quote me on this but I do believe Sandstrom gave up 5 goals against in his only start last week. It will take some time for him to get the mojo in flow.

If only we still had Merrick Madsen...

Yep. And their on-ice production is identical, as well.

He has all of the tools, but what I like the best is his ability to get under opponents skin and he won't back down.
- Konalover

Yes! I was going to include "grit" in my post but wasn't sure that was the word I was looking for.

Weaken our NHL team to "make room" on our AHL team?
- jmatchett383

Why not...we are doing it at center, right?

I'm sure Manning is better than Sanheim in many ways. Like playing basketball, or writing his name in the snow, or doing the moonwalk.

I did mention getting a short term NHL backup back in the deal.

Hagg and Provorov make the same amount on their current contracts,

Therefore, we could get the same exact return for Hagg as we could for Provorov.

Yeah, Goalies are so hard to predict. Lyon isn't having a great season in the A right now either, so it's also possible they just hold on to both Elliot and Neuvirth until the end of the training camp.

Which short-term NHL backup were you thinking of that won't weaken the current NHL team?

There are a few players I would like to get rid of on this roster, but Raffl isn't one of them.

So ship out half our current NHL forwards and throw a bunch of AHL kids in their place? That's the path to winning?

Speaking of dirty plays unless I missed it I am surprised no one has said anything about Larkin tripping Konecny then elbowing him in head.

Right now with where the Flyer are I wouldn't mind taking on a guy like Maroon. Guy can play up and down the lineup. And if they plan to limit Goulbourne's minutes but want his type of play then Maroon could be a guy like that where you don't need to limit the minutes.

Also he can play a 2nd PP role in front of net and brings you playoff experience. He also can move up the lineup if needed if someone were to go down.

Now I don't offer anything huge since he is a pure rental(maybe could resign to a minimal deal if Simmonds is moved) but I think he has attirbutes this team could use, especially if this could be a playoff team.

- J35Bacher

i'd be happy to have maroon back. at what price is the question.

But if we do that, how will we trade all of our players for pretty draft picks?
