LA's a big team, he has the tools to play against those guys.

Wow, completely disagree on Zadina. Way different player, high hockey IQ and just a wicked wrister. I am leaning towards Tkachuk, but he's the other guy. His CHL highlights are very impressive, much more than Boquist or hughes on tape and at the WJC IMO

Zadina looks like a deadly offensive player. It's like the Ehlers/Virtanen debate again for me. People need to see past Tkachuk playing tough.

Who do you pick at 3oa and why.

Players likely available:Hughes(D), Boquist(D), Tkachuk(LW/C), Zadina(LW)

I would be very happy with either of those wingers. I think either ones gives us an actual 1st line and a very legit powerplay. Of course drafting either of those d might upgrade the powerplay too. I'm having a hard time determining who the BPA is, leaning toward Tkachuk still.

Bodqvist or bouchard

As to why, because while we finish last we lose the draft lottery and move back 3 places to 4ov, then we trade that pick with tanev for 3ov

There were suggestions by some that he was being buoyed by his overage linemates and that he was a one trick pony. I think scouts and fans put too much emphasis on his highlight hits coming down the wing and goal total from his draft season.

Zadina too me looks like a kid that is bigger than the rest with speed. JV had an awesome shot in junior and knew how to score at that level.
Yakupov also looked like an amazing player in junior, look where that got him.
I just don't thnk Zadina is a good pick for us is all. Rather do defense.

I agree. edit: about Defense. I'd rather Zadina over Sveshnikov

Is Tkachuk playing C or wing in College? Anyone know?

Tanev is worth more than moving from 4 to 3, and the difference between Boqvist and Bouchard is NOT Tanev

I have my doubts he'll see much centre when he turns pro as well.

Paul Chapman on the 1040 today Donny and the Moj had the best take on the Canucks and Sedins in years. If you get a chance to hear the podcast do it. It only lasts for about 4 minutes.

I think Wahlstrom is the only top 10 guy who looks like a C. Even he has been playing some wing I think.

If JV hadn't been rushed along with McCann and then injured his shoulder, I don't think we would be talking about JV being a bust and players like him (Zadina) being a potential next JV.

Stuff happens, injuries and poor development can derail, what otherwise might have been a good career. That said, we need a #1D more than we need a 1LW at this time. As someone on these boards (Nucker I believe), it's easier to sign and/or trade for a top-line winger, then get a 1C or 1D. Heck, chances are if you can draft/develop top level D like Nashville, you can trade one or two and load up your top 6 without harming your top 4D.

I know it'll never happen and people will scream, but I would not be adverse to offering Bo or Boeser, Tanev and our 1st to move up and get Dahlin. Get that franchise/HHOF/potentially generational 1D and then suddenly even your crap roster looks that much better. Look how much better Karlsson made Ottawa, it's not like they had much to work with and yet they made it to within a game of reaching the SCF.

Heck, P.K. Subban is only a 3D on Nashville and he's a former Norris Trophy winner and after Johanssen went down, they still went to the SCF and put up a fight against Pittsburg until their offense dried up predictably.

It's something to be mindful of, but I saw a fair bit of IQ at the WJC. Tkachuk was not quite as good as Zadina but I was impressed with his all-around game. Good at finding open spaces, cycling and really nice netfront work with deflections and rebounds. Gadjovic is this type of player too, but not as impressive at it IMO

PK is the front runner for Norris this year and leads the Nashville D. I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but give the man his due. As for trading up, I don't think trading Bo or BB makes sense but tanev and our 1st should be enough. Either way, I sincerely doubt anyone sells Dahlin for any price.
