I'm also a big fan of Subban and I didn't hear the quote but I imagine there was a lot more than the 5th overall going to MTL. - belcherbd
From what i heard, it was a straight pick for player trade. |

Elliot Friedman just said on the radio that if Pierre luc Dubois slid to 5th overall in 2016, the Canucks and habs had a deal in place for PK Subban. - Codes1087
Ya gonna say Friedman is a bit out to lunch on that one. Nothing really ever surfaced on it and Benning did want Dubois badly. When CLB took Dubois it pooched the draft and there would have been way more than 5OA required to get Subban. |

As much as i dislike PK Subbans big personality and antics and what not, he is an elite and norris winning dman. 5th overall would be a pretty standard price. - Codes1087

That seems a little too good to be true. Can't trade a 1D for a prospect. I could see him and Tanev or Edler maybe having been the deal |

Well... yeah, some salary had to have been going back as well since Subban was 9mil and at the time the Canucks were going to have to give Horvat a new contract. Tanev for sure would have had to go since Edler has the NTC and Tanev to my knowledge doesn't. |

The Habs like too many things French...it's a mindset that needs to change there. Along with the coach and GM. |

Was talked about prior to this season. Now that the Nucks are out of WC contention and the Sedins are 'thinking about' either retirement or coming back, Hank should just do the right thing and hand the C over to Horvat now. Would be a class move and nice passing of the torch for this year. Even if Sedins come back for one more year what...Hank is gonna be the Captain getting 3-4th line minutes??
Get 'er done Hank. - LordHumungous
I think he will soon |

The rumor at the time was something around Tanev + 5OA for Subban + 9OA |

With a full lineup they will get back to the way they were playing before the injuries, wont be enough they let the losing go on to long, everyone struggles at certain points in the season the key is to limit the damage, kings are struggling now along with some other top teams from earlier in the year. |

In a way it's smart, but I really don't see a fanbase issue so I'm not sure if he's just ethnocentric or what |

I doubt it was straight up, probably a bigger deal with pieces added from both sides(more from Canucks) |

Pretty crazy to think of PK Subban playing in Vancouver right now.
We probably wouldn’t have Dowd though |

Nowhere did Friedman say it was straight up though lol.
But yeah, 5th overall straight up for a top 10 dman(arguably top 5) in his prime would be robbery.
I bet Tanev was involved, but who knows.

I still imagine Tanev and the 5th wouldn't of gotten it done. Despite that trade being as lopsided as it was, Weber doesn't equal Tanev and 5th.
