He made a mistake defensively last night and when Marner does that he ends up on the 4th line so what's fair is fair. He hot dogged the ref too when he scored. Have to learn a lesson. Matthews to the 4th line. - Unholy_Goalie

Sorry. .I was on the phone to Luo! ..silly YOU were suppose to be calling bergy! ..p.s...Luo said don't ever call again! ..and yes..he does know where you live! - MR.Hunter
I thought we were trading JvR to St. Louis for Kyrou and Edmundson?
Do you think Bergevin knows he is the GM of the Habs and not the Blues
?
If not, Bergy....Don't worry.. Just

I have to disagree with this; but only because whenever Komarov makes a mistake, he gets more playing time. |

Cheechoo scored 50+ once... - Steven_Seagull
And good for San Jose to identify he was a good complimentary player for Thornton. He also had 28, 37 and 23 goal seasons. Putting talent with talent. Or would you say Joel Ward would have been a better linemate for Thornton?
Hyman is a 3rd liner and Matthews needs a guy who's going to compliment his talents. 3rd liners are easy to find, easily replaced. Talent is hard to come by. |

To be fair, some of the blame does fall on Dermott on that goal. but he will learn from those mistakes. Dermott should have stayed where he was, instead of stepping up and letting Comeau get behind him..

Jesus man..I thought you knew that it's supposed to be a three way trade! ..Armstrong won't deal with Luo directly - MR.Hunter
right... Got it..
Leafs get Edmundson and Kyrou.
Blues get JvR and a 2nd rd pick from the Habs.
Habs get to pretend that they had a say in the deal all along and get to keep Plekanec. |

God I hope it's jvr..I like that certain element down low that jvr brings (that just sounds odd) ..his scoring touch. .but to sign him to 5.8to6ish?..idk if in the club best interests? ..but to have a assets walk for nothing. .well that definitely is not!..that includes bozzy and Leo! ..if they want to sign these guys. .well.. they can come July 1st! ..the leafs are not ready to challenge for a top 4 Finnish. .let alone the cup!..would like to see jvr to Carolina for Roland McKeown ..anything is possible? - MR.Hunter
For what it's worth, Marleau got 6.25 from the Leafs while being way older and producing less than JVR.
So A) JVR might ask for more than that and B) How is JVR considered a bad investment here? |

Ryan McDonagh is not the type of defender the Leafs should be getting in return if Nylander is going the other way. If the Leafs want to swing for the fences and go grab a legit #1 guy like Karlsson or Doughty, fine, use Nylander as part of a package that has a justifiable price. But not McDonagh. No (frank)ing way. - Unholy_Goalie
On behalf of a grateful Leafs Nation, I thank you for taking the time to fully consider the subtle nuances of a one-sided trade to the New York Rangers, reported by Larry Brooks, and only Larry Brooks.
If not for your vigilance, we may very well have made this trade. |

For a 22 year old player who was stuck on the worst team in the NHL, that's hard to say. Where does this idea that he has no work ethic come from?
Worst case scenario, you trade Hyman, Duclair doesn't work out and you replace him with Kapanen. Reality is, Hyman is replaceable within the system. Best case scenario, you put another young guy, with a cheaper contract, with 20+ goal potential together with Matthews. |

Hyman is awesome. Fast skater, great work ethic, great defensively, chips in offensively once in a while. Love him.

I don't disagree with your point.
But recent past has JVR producing more while being close to 10 years younger.
So I don't see why he wouldn't ask/get at least as much as Marleau and why would it be so bad to give it to him? |

He's also the reason why most offensive plays die in his hands. He's not as bad as Pageau, but he's close. |

Agreed. .but jvr bozzy and gards. ..imho have a bad smell to them ..leftovers from a stinky team not so all ago ..again if the leafs wanted to resign him/them..then come July 1st go for it!..but they are not in a position imo..to win it all so stay on track with the rebuild! ..their not one peice away. .unless maybe a top RH dman becomes available? ..And even then? ..but point we'll taken |

Duclair is a scoring forward that can't score........
he sucks defensively
can't pk
he is a lottery ticket that Chicago hopes he can develop into something. Calgary did the same thing with Lazar and it did not work out. |

Also depends on what other UFAs are out there and how many teams want JVR. But if he gets less than 6 million, it's because he took a discount. He's going to ask for 6+ million and probably get it somewhere. |
