The Kings will not be trading Vilardi, Clague, or their #1 pick this year, especially not for a rental. So if that's the asking price, Kane is not coming to LA. - tkecanuck341
My thoughts exactly. |

so they're not getting Kane/Pacioretty.

I think that the Kings will target someone that isnt being talked about. Someone who probably isnt being shopped. Kind of their style. |

Their primary target is a top four defenseman. They'll likely target Mike Green, but won't be willing to pay enough to get him. After that, they'll inquire about Hjalmarsson, and be willing to pay a little more since he has another year left on his contract, but still likely won't offer up Vilardi, Clague, or a 1st (maybe Clague since they're getting back a quality defenseman, but I doubt it). They might kick the tires on Jack Johnson, but I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole.
If they can't get either of those guys, they'll see what forward rentals are available (Kane, Maroon, Vanek, perhaps Sharp if Chicago can't rally and he's willing to waive his NTC). If they can work out a reasonable deal, they'll pull the trigger. If not, they'll stand pat.
Blake is still in his first year as GM, he's not under a ton of pressure to win now, so he won't make moves that hurt in the long run. That's what got Lombardi fired. |

I struggle to see why any team would give up the assets it looks like it will take to get Kane if he is destined for the Canucks. |

They won't. Botterill will try to pull a Sakic and get a ridiculous return for Kane, and be left standing at the altar on deadline day. Kane will sign a long-term deal in his hometown in the off-season. Botterill will get fired before the start of the 2019-20 season. |

If he's going to be on a team that sucks, he might as well be on a team that sucks close to his family and friends. |

Just because you put quotation marks around some of this silliness and garbage doesn't mean anyone actually believes this nonsense. If there are any morons that believe you actually have any real sources then they have to be the dumbest people on the planet. Where do your sources come from anyway? You never played. You never have been a player agent or worked with any team in any capacity. Hell it's evident by some of your "work" that you don't even understand the game. Where do you meet all these amazing contacts with all these professional teams? |

Pittsburgh doesn’t have the assets other teams have to pull off this deal. Move along folks - BringNYIhome
The only advantage for the Pens is Botts has intimate knowledge of the Pens organisation & can identify a sure thing for his new organisation. Other organisations will be trying to Garth Snow/Costanza him! |

I for one would prefer that the Penguins go after a different target if Kane is strictly a rental. Buffalo is looking for too much. I'd much rather Pittsburgh go after Letestu, or better at the center position. Which will, in turn, put Jake Guentzel back at the wing position, where he belongs.
Center or defenseman. I vote "pass", in terms of Kane. |

I think you get a little more for simmonds as he's a truly dynamic player but patches isnt a bad catch either and would be a welcome addition to a number of teams. I think you get a late 1st round pick and a decent prospect for both. For simmonds you might get that extra 3rd round pick or another ok prospect with some potential. Of course you never know what happens with deadline trades when desperation sets in. |
