More
Fun fact.
Since @NHLFlyers Jori Lehterä entered the @NHL in 2014 there have been 207 Forwards who have played 300+ PP minutes.
Lehterä is 207/207 in G/60, with 0.42.
He is currently the Flyers PP2 net-front guy. #Flyers - Girouxsalem90

I disagree with that but to each his own. - MJL
I dont think horrible but he has missed coverage that led to break aways or turnovers, not that all D dont, that doesnt appear to be an issue because as a whole the team is playing really well and the goalies (save the Ranger game) are playing well. |

the rumor is that Marchessault was exposed so they would trade for Reilly Smith...they protected Pysyk and Petrovic (4D) . Florda front office as also a poopshow then.
Flyers protected Laughton
Minnesota chose to protect their defensemen, they were pretty screwed by the timing of the expansion draft, but I doubt they expected Tuch to be as good as he has been (they had/have several prospects). - YuenglingJagr
Right i was saying I am glad and would have also protected Laughton and exposed PEB as they did |

I do. What good does arguing that my eye test is better than yours do? At that point we may as well break out the ruler and have a Richard measuring contest. - JFlyers00
He's not on the NHL roster at the moment is he? My eye might be better. |

Hagg has been fine. If he is compared to Provorov, then sure he's not in that same class, but he's still been a bright spot this season. Would you rather have Hagg or Nick Schultz, Mark Streit, or Michael Del Zotto? - ManCity
Hagg because he has potential to improve. But his play this year is not much different than what Schultz did in 15-16. |

And when they lose in brutal fashion against the Rags with Manning allowing two players to get past him for breakaways in the first period, he plays the next game anyway because he's "better" than Sanheim. - Feanor
The Nash breakaway goal is not on Manning, it's on Gudas. The shorthanded Carey goal was due to a Flyer falling down along the half wall leading to what was essentially at first a 3 on 1 that turned into a 2 on 1 and a lead pass for a breakaway in which Manning had no chance to recover on. The coaching staff knows that.

absolutely...it was a no brainer...The Flyers were in great position for the expansion draft and had basically no decisions to be made. I honestly trust Hextall in the expansion draft more than most. |

The way the Flyers handle defensemen are perfectly fine and similar to a lot of other teams in the league. If you are positionally sound and responsible in your own end they have no problems playing you as a young d-man, and that can be seen with Provorov and Hagg. Sanheim isn't as responsible as them on the defensive side of things so he isn't given the same level of trust and guaranteed playing time like they are. He will get there though sooner rather than later. - FreshFlyer

That's exactly what I mean. I think Manning is playing the #6 role adequately, but that doesn't mean he is playing without fault. I will say, he did not play very well last game.
It's crazy it took so long for TK to get put back on that unit. - VladDrag
It's relative. Depth defenseman have weaknesses in their game and don't play shut down defensive hockey. That's why they're depth defenseman. |

So shall we just pretend the coaching staff didn't try to get Ghost to play "conservatively" I don't think they have had one set way of developing each defenseman yet, so I am not sure what is proven. - YuenglingJagr
No, what's happening is that people are pretending that the coaching staff tried to get Gostisbehere to play conservatively. That's a myth. |

The Flyers could be in 2nd place in the metro after tonight depending how things shake out the main things everyone are concerned about are:
1. Sanheim still
2. Manning
3. Lehtara
Damn can't we enjoy that this team is playing some solid hockey.
I for one right now am a little less concerned about Sanheims development, because i know he'll be fine, and just enjoying this fun team right now.
I LIKE WINNING. |

I agree Gudas owns some of it but Manning if I recall was on the far wall and didnt even read the play, that happen at least twice over the recent games. Last game he took so long to move the puck he had his pocket picked, which led to zone time, which led to a PP and that led to a goal. Again, all D make mistakes.
its going well now, most players are playing well, when some of the other D struggle that is when you really notice.

My issue is when gost came into the nhl they let him excel at what he was good at first and taught him and brought along his 2 way game. With sanheim they are trying to hold hostage what he does best until he develops the defensive acumen. It doesn't make sense. Let the kid do what he's good at and develop his flaws. I feel we force him into situations where his flaws are magnified. That being said him being in the ahl playing top pairing all situations is what's best for him for now with how he's been handled. - Tfaehner
They're trying to force Sanheim into playing defensively as a defenseman? First and foremost a defenseman has to be able to defend and make the right plays in his own end. If he can't do that consistently or well then he won't be very good. Sanheim is young and developing and he just needs more time.
