Ahhhh what a backread.
Attempting to address obvious issues while the team is playing well is a very sensitive subject for some of you apparently. - Mordecai

Or maybe Andrew Cogliano's and why it was right for the NHL to suspend him even though it ended his streak... |

That's confusing evaluation with need. Unfortunately right now the Flyers need to place Hagg in tough defensive situations due to the team depth. It would be far better for a player like Hagg to break in playing a somewhat sheltered 3rd pair role but the Flyers right now need more until they can develop a better overall defense corps. - MJL
They don't need to play him with another dman who struggles in the possession game. That's a choice, and a bad one.
They could quite easily pair him with Gudas. |

False. Empirical evidence is Sanheim not getting any PP time. Why is that? - MJL
Why indeed, when you have 1 PP point total from the 59 combined PP minutes given to Lehtera, Weise and Manning. |

My favorite part is how you would think that a team playing well and goalies performing well (even during some defensive breakdowns) would be a good situation for a player adapting to the league to come in and rub off some of that green.
Without getting into a debate on whether Manning is playing better than Sanheim or not, using playing time in an argument is completely bogus because it is a clear result of the coaches thinking he is better than he is. If Manning were a 6/7 like he should be, there would be no issue. He was getting PP2 time. He was playing top 4 minutes.
I think he was actually playing better (relative to himself) during the 10 game losing streak |

I'll say this, if you watch these games and think in any facet that players like Manning and Lehtera getting the ice time they are isn't a problem, then you arent watching the games properly.

I do remember you posting a lot about how Konecny has improved defensively and away from the puck and how you felt he should be playing on the top line. - YuenglingJagr
Konecny also got 118 PP minutes as a 19 year old rookie, so this notion that PP time only goes to young players who have proved themselves defensively is nonsense. When exactly did Konecny's "fundamental defensive game" get "where it needs to be"? Because he got PP2 time right away in 16-17.
This season Patrick has struggled more than Sanheim, but he's on PP2 almost every game. |

Well to be fair, TK doesn't play defense. |

Its a tough spot because since that 10 game winless streak the team , based on record, has been one of the top teams in the league which is what has gotten them back into the race.
I dont have an issue with trying to win now and the understanding that Hak might feel Manning is a safer choice right now then Sanheim.
If that same approach is taken next season different story though. |

The issue isn't that Manning is a safer choice.
The issue is that Sanheim does so many more good things when he's out on the ice. You just notice the miscues more because of the way he plays the game. But his numbers have been so solid. He moves the puck up the ice and makes his teammates better. |

There's a miscommunication here re: results vs process, and I'm not willing to spend anymore time on this. Good day - JFlyers00
No not really. I'm discussing the only process that matters.

MacDonald is a better choice for the role they are playing the pairing in. There is no perfect lineup for the Flyers defense right now.

Gudas made an comment when Manning came back from injury, something like, it is different with Manning, I have to do more teaching on the ice with Travis. I would think that had some influence on Haks decision.

That's a fair point but that's the way the Flyers are going to handle young players. I agree with them.
