New blog is up, with game notes, Boeser's cold streak and...of course...the Sedins...

Chayka did do what a lot of us wanted the Canucks to do, but he seemingly lost some patience with the Stepan trade, as outsiders we have no idea whether or not he was forced to make win now moves by ownership as well so it’s hard to say if he gets 100% of the blame. Plus he put a lot of faith into Raanta, hoping it’d work out like Talbot did for Edmonton. Who hasn’t been terrible, but inconsistent and not a workhorse reliable starter. People acting like he’s been some joke of a GM are exaggerating. Outside of the Stepan trade, his moves have been reasonable.

The Hjalmarsson trade was solid, Murphy is a bottom pairing dman and he can easily recoup the value he gave up to acquire Hjalmarsson if he trades him at the TDL.

I think taking Stepan was the only way to land Raanta. Wouldn't be surprised if Stepan got moved. NYR had cap issues, still do.

i think the point is that the majority of the canucks' roster is made up of spare parts and barely hanging on nhlers (either fringers or vets).

sure any contender will have players who on an individual basis may not be as "good" as the canucks' spare part brigade but those individuals for whatever reason work in that team's system... and it's probably due to that team not being made up of a bunch of spare parts.

I think every team has sh*t players, but those guys dont get criticized as much if they're on a winning team. Look at Ryan Callahan, 1 goal in 37 games on the best team in hockey, making 5.8mil. fawking brutal, never hear his name come up.

True. But at least when a contending team does it, the fans can understand.

Yes obviously Horvat and Boeser, even though the flow isn't fast, could play for them.

If he hasnt been so disrespectful of Doan they would be in a much better position right now instead of perennial bottom feeders. I don't think they have gotten better. Bottom 2 in the league doesn't scream success to me
... but maybe that's because i like my pom Poms to try...

Doan was more washed up than the Sedins.

Chayka was hired like a year and half ago lol. People act like he’s been there for 3-4 years.

What GM was gonna make the Coyotes a good team that quickly? And how?

They’d be way worse off if he didn’t draft Keller

i think they'll finish ahead of the nucks this year. that draft with keller and chychrun has set up the team for success.

they should be quite a bit better next year.
