Love to know how Aquaman is benchmarking JB's success vs failure. What is considered success, playoffs? If that's true then we as fans are in for a lot of hurt.
- bloatedmosquito

The great thing about goals is you can revisit and change them as events unfold. For instance, at the start of the year every teams goal should be to make the playoffs. Vegas, NJ, Edmonton and now Colorado are proof that anything can happen. When the landscape changes and playoffs are not a likely option the goals of the team should change. Sell “future” yadda yadda...

So you are saying that in 4 seasons, JB's only been able to acquire two players with NHL roster value? The rest being expendable or still question marks?

That makes me sad.

- bloatedmosquito

As far as current roster players go, keep the ones who are your future and get whatever you can for the rest. This team is udder poop. One of our top 3 or 4 players is a 2 million dollar, older, UFA pickup... this roster is what you get why you cant accept reality.

Also. You have to ask yourself, take the top 3 teams from the east, and top 3 from the west, and look at their line ups and start plugging in our players to see if they not only fit, but would crack their rosters, you soon realize why we are where we are in the standings

Well said Vintsy. Now if only this team can change their goal from.playoffs to selling and rebuilding, we would all be a bit happier in here

Yeah. Honestly, I watch less Canucks games because I know it's going to be painful for a while. I have watched a few Kelowna Roackets games and boys I gotaa tell ya, Lind is like a freaking wrecking ball out there right now. Still think we should have drafted Heponiemi, but the kid looked really good. As Darius pointed out, not making team Canada might have been the best thing for him.

Realistically, adding two picks could be considered a win. Personally, i would trade Tanev, he’s the most valuable player and based on when the Canucks will next be competitive, he likely won’t be anymore... Canucks really need two picks in the top 10 this year!

The last couple of games the player that has stood out the most for me is Nic (frank)ing Dowd. His hustle is noticeable. Levels above most on this team.

My god, I knew this situation hadn't improved when a nothing trade of fringe NHLers provides your team with it's hardest worker. No wonder Dorsett got the minutes he did.

Adding any picks is a win. A 2nd or 3rd for vanek is a win. A 2nd or 3rd for gudbranson is a win. This team needs prospects, this team needs a chance to hit a home run with more draft picks.

I originally joked about being a Vegas fan but it's starting to make sense. I am trying to move to the desert anyways so I should just ditch the Canucks like you and Nucker

The rebuilding part I am patient with, it's the product on the ice now that is causing the pain.

You are bang on. Dowd has been one of the hardest workers, even gaunce has been out hustling the rest of the team. Our "3rd line center" in chaput just cleared waivers while we are up against teams that have adam henrique as their 3C. We just arent even close right now.

With the Sedins-Edler-Tanev-Guddy- and a few others gone we should have the cap space to go after Karlsson and Tavares.

Discuss lol

Very true, but just admitting to yourself that a rebuild is needed is not enough. Got to have the braintrust to do it right.

My fear is that this team is run by a bunch of mental midgets.

If they could get out from under Erickson‘s deal (to Bos for a 7th), shop Gagner, MDZ, Gudbranson, Vanek and Tanev... That would really signal to the “vets” this thing is over. Maybe Sedins reconsider another year, Edler maybe considers a change for his final year, and the rebuild can truly begin.

I think it’s more of a Tug-of-war, except both sides are trying to push the rope instead of pull it.
