Only reason that'd be the case would be if the Yotes took Marner 3rd.

Its arguable I think. Werenski, Hanifin, and Provorov all look like they could be top pairing defenders. Marner is already a top 6 forward and if we're lucky I think it's possible he could be a point per game player in his prime years. All are great players.

Then there are a few other great young players like Barzal or Rantanen.

The more time passes, the more that looks like a stacked draft class. Lots of talented players.


Don't get me wrong. I'm not disappointed in Marner and if he fell in a hypothetical redraft it wouldn't be because he hasn't lived up to the potential you'd want to see in a 4th overall, it would only be because there have turned out to be so many other great picks in that draft.

People can wine about Marner all they want but were not facking trading him. Hes tied for 2nd in points on the Leafs playing with shyt linemates. He is a playmaker and passer not a shooter and i would 100% guarantee that if he was playing with Mathews the whole year on the first line, his points would be double. I'm starting to think that Leafs management are utilizing all there players wrong to keep contract demands down. Is it just me or does everyone on here say WTF to the line combos all the time lol
