Hes not fully being slept on but I believe BOQVIST will get back into the top 5 and very well could be a Sabres pick if we fall out of top 3.

Something to look forward to at least

Keep an eye on NBCsports
They play college games on most Fri &/or Sat nights

Minny is one of the teams they tend to feature (NotreDame,BostonU, BC, etc)

I do agree on taking Zadina or Svechnikov 2nd or 3rd... for sure

And it not that i don’t agree we need help up front

We just have more of a margin of error bc we have so many more top9 potential forward prospects than we do top4 defenseman prospects

- jdfitz77

Yea I agree our D-man pool is extremely thin. Kinda why im really hoping we can gather more picks and possibly another 1st. We absolutely need to replenish that stock.

Adam Boqvist is another very good option and id prob take him at 4 over Tkachuk

So you would rather have OEL then a franchise changing defenseman we're talking the Connor McDavid of defenseman you better give me Keller and OEL and 1st +
- GERBE!!!75PTS

It would be OEL...
PLUS Zadina

Instead of Dahlin

It’s certainly worth considering

It might be worth considering but having that Elite franchise defenseman could be the key to that Stanley Cup victory

I’d consider that as well

With trading Kane,
the absolute top priority should be to get a good defenseman prospect back

Bc most likely, we are gonna be taking a forward in the draft

I'm hoping the Sabres can sucker some team with Sam for defenseman "hoping" if we don't get the first pick

That’s totally fair to say
And i like our forward prospects more than most on here

And we’d have to pay OEL a ton

So if we didn’t make that trade...
i wouldn’t be too upset

But OEL + Zadina could help this core become contenders as well

I’d still probably go with just taking Dahlin though

overshadowed by his other swedish counterpart who's playing in the top division (whereas boqvist is still playing u-20 and loaned to a 2nd division team).

Not making the WJC doesnt help. I think the ceiling is still there, just maybe more risk and not quite as ready as dahlin. Tools seem to be all there though

I could see that

Idk how high of a defenseman prospect we can get for Sam at this point though?

Theodore or Larsson...
probably not

But maybe someone like Adam Fox?
In that range anyways

Yea thats a major burn. Would have been a good showcase. He did just turn 17 in August though so idk if that had anything to do with it.

That’s your assumption

Priority is (should be) to get the best potential defenseman possible

How high a pick we also get should be secondary

What would u rather have?

a prospect like Guhle & a 2nd
Or
a prospect like Fitzgerald & a 1st

I want the better player, no question

There are tons of holes in this roster

The only thing they have is a true #1 center

If they end up at 1st overall and Arizona is at #2 and they would consider swapping picks with moving OEL you would absolutely have to think about that.

Other than Middelstat there are no true top 6 forwards in the prospect pool for the Sabres at this point.

OEL Risto Guhle will round out the top 3 defensemen plus I am assuming a defensive prospect will be coming back for Kane and then maybe Reinhart as well.

If you want to replenish the stock that's how you get defensemen that are further along and you draft whoever you think is the best forward in this draft assuming Arizona takes Dahlin.

This isn't just about getting the best player it is about building the best team.

Taking a defensemen 1st overall is risky

Ekblad
Erik Johnson
Chris Phillips
Bryan Berard
Ed Jovanovski

The last 5 defensemen draft 1st overall in the last 25 years

I would take OEL and draft a forward...

You're filling 2 major holes on this team

Also didn't junior say Sean Day was going to be 1st overall?

I imagine it played a part, I still think he'll go top 10 but my guess is Hughes goes ahead of him.

I did ....

But Dahlin is a can't miss Prospect he's like Connor McDavid he's just going to change your franchise instantly

How is Edmonton doing btw?

It's not always about getting the best player

You need the best team

This is one way to accomplish that...

That being said I would still probably take Dahlin

how are they connected?

The draft has come a long way since picks like EJ. Dahlin by all accounts is a stud
