I'm actually hoping that an embarrassing loss tonight gets the ball moving on getting rid of as many of these names as possible. Then they'll have to try new things
- jcragcrumple

We've had how many embarrassing losses ? 0 things happen afterwards

They are letting this ride to the deadline

OA

Dahlin
Tkachuk
Svechnikov
Zadina
Wahlstrom

If we don't land 1st OA, we're stuck with forwards. I wonder if it would be a good idea to trade back to 5 or 6.

- TheSabresTaco

I’m all about drafting defense...
but if we have the 2 or 3 pick, then it’s Svechnikov or Zadina for me
No brainer

BUT
that means we MUST acquire a good young defenseman when we trade Kane
Larsson from the Ducks is a guy i like
Someone like that

And if we happen to win the lotto,
then great
Our defense will be awesome in no time
And we could even potentially be in a spot to trade defense for forwards if need be

Like many others have said though...
the forward talent we do have is likely to produce more once we have defensemen who can clear the zone & help get the puck up the ice

I think Eke just posted that Kane could be moved at the deadline. Thats big news

(frank) no you are getting a generational defenseman that is going to be a billion times better then OEL
- GERBE!!!75PTS

Umm I would rather have OEL and Thachuk than McCabe and Dahlin

Hypothetical:

If the Sabres pick 1, and the Coyotes pick 2,

Is this a reasonable trade:

Swap picks and OEL for McCabe

- jcragcrumple

Something in that ballpark maybe?
We’d have to be 100% that OEL will extend with us at the end of the season though
It’s a little risky

We need help everywhere not just defense. There is a lot of emphasis on fixing the blue line but I could argue we need stud forwards just as much.

Assuming you can extend him I would 100000% do it:

Lines in the future:

Thachuk Eichel Okposo
ROR Middelstat Nylander?

OEL Scandella
Risto Guhle

The top 6 and the top 4 is light years better than they are now

I think trying to force reinhart to center was one of housley's biggest mistakes early in the season
- Michael Pachla

I think putting him at Center with mediocre wingers was the big mistake
Pouliot & Griffith

How could anyone expect that line to look good?

Put Sam between Kane & Pommer...
then we can expect some more production

And if it doesn’t work...
Who cares? The season is toast anyways

they actually had good possession in the o-zone when they were together the problem was nobody could finish...or pass or do anything really. But I thought Reinhart did a decent job

Fair enough

I know we are all frustrated
and that’s led to MANY wanting to “clean house”

But Botts isn’t gonna just trade away the half (or more) of our roster that everyone hates right now

And we gotta keep in mind,
he wants the kids down in Rochester winning

So unfortunately, we might not see much of what we’d like up here this season

Mike how has the hiring of Botterill backfired on Pegula?

For God sakes it hasn’t even been a year since his hiring. So far the only mistake you can make a point for is probably coaching. Even that’d be reaching IMHO. Housley has 1 and a half good forward lines and 2 good defensemen to work. So keep in mind before people call out Housley.

Botterill has been brought in to clean up Murray’s mess. It’s going to take more than less than a year to turn this around.

Svechnikov &/or Zadina >>>>> Tkachuk

No longer even close imo at this point
I have serious questions as to whether or not Tkachuk will be a “goal scorer” in the NHL
He’s not even much of one now

I have to go with no. Svech and Zad's are too good, and are what we need with Jack. As for a Dman, while probably end up with a 1st in the Kane deal, take one then. Other than Dahlin, none will be ready, so if we need to revamp the Defense for next season, move RoR and Reinhart for the best they can bring back. If Arizona lands Dahlin, maybe they trade OEL for those two.

Very true. I pay too much for cable to either watch this train wreck or avoid it, which is mostly what I do now, sadly. I want them to make moves to get me interested again. Not sure if I'll make it to the deadline in all honesty.

Yeah, I could stream it online anyway, but I probably wouldn't. It just pissed me off. Is it so hard to throw the fans a bone and at least try prospects we want to see play with our best players?

I think the other two have a higher ceiling and tkachuk has the higher floor if that makes sense

Hard pass for me. I believe Dahlin will be the real deal. I'd rather have a 18-19 year old over a 26 OEL. Plus I have Thachuck 4th

100% disagree

We have a whole pool of forwards coming
No, not all will work out
But some will

We have only Guhle coming on defense
and maybe Borgen
Fitzgerald maybe too

But i could rattle off 10-12 forwards who have top9 or better potential

You're (frank)ing nuts you have no idea how good dahlin is
The reason I never talk about him because I don't want to get my hopes up ..

But he is going to be the king for the defenseman in the NHL for the next decade

Yeah i don't get it either, its like people think this team was supposed to be good and that its botterills fault the trash murray brought in isn't working out.

On a separate note, this rookie GM thing is laughable. Yzerman was a "rookie", Chiarelli was an experienced cup winner.

Ask Henderson how that's working out

I wouldn’t go exactly like that...
but yeah
We’d get 2 major pieces we need instead of 1

It’s at least worth considering
Would ARZ make that trade though?
Idk...
we might have to sweeten the pot with more than just McCabe
