I have Thomas Vanek/Luke Adam tourette's

When someone mentions vanek under performing, or not making people around him better, i yell "LUKE ADAM"

- jcragcrumple

Vanek could be another sneaky good rental. He's never done too well as a rental though but he is having a decent year in 'couver. Teams going into the playoffs salivate over dudes that can put the puck in the net. That's why i'm not worried whatsoever about the whole Kane thing. We'll do well.

I posted literal facts about his career averages.

You can't just yell "fake news" at stuff you don't like

Oh, can't I?

kane is in the top 40 for goals scored in the last year and a half
there is 31 teams in the nhl
it's that simple

he is not trash

you can spout off whatever facts you want, and maybe one of the gm's or scouts that visit this site daily will give you a pat on the back

but I would not wait for it

Well i didn't ask for your help.

You're excluding previous sample size, i am not. Both of these things are true:

- He has scored a lot in the past 18 months

- he averages under 20 goals and 18 assists per year.

Does a GM base a trade on 18 months, or 8 years? Probably 18 months, but they're foolish to do so

- jcragcrumple

Why’s that foolish? 18 months is still a large sample. Would you trade for iginla based on 8 Years?

Which is fine for a rental. That is completely different than signing him for 7 or 8 years, though.
- buffalofan19

what does that have to do with his rental value though?

I forgot where I saw it, but the best idea I ever saw for a playoff format was top 16 make the playoffs. Top seed picks its opponent. Then the second seed, and then so on and so forth.
- buffalofan19

That makes way more sense than an 87 point team making it and a 94 point team missing out imo

I keep hearing that Kane is a 30 goal scorer. He s done that 1/8 years. I'm just saying yeah, maybe a team will get that Kane, but there's no guarantees when the past says otherwise

I'm sure some teams would rather have vanek as a rental. Especially if you have a banger like kane already. His asking price is probably much lower and he's been a consistent goal scorer for 12 years

You're getting all worked up. I never called him trash. I'm saying that there's an idea of who Kane is based on that relatively small time frame, and that's far from the whole story

kane is faster, plays pk

vanek IMO is a fringe 2nd liner for a team needing a rental

kane has much more upside, but of course will cost more than the late 2nd rd pick

you can spin a fact anyway you want to make your case

but you can't spin numbers

kane is in the top 10 for goal scoring for left wingers in the nhl for the last season and a half

that probably trumps anything you try to spin

but maybe the scout or gm will post on here and prove me wrong

You're writing in all caps and telling me to "stop posting nonsense"

I'm also not spinning numbers.

Kane averages 19 goals and 17 assists per year. He has been better in the past 18 months. That's also true. I'm pointing out that it's an incomplete narrative.

It's like saying he has 3 points in his last 12 games. It's true, but it's also true he was lighting it up before then.

This season is a mirage IMO, and a GM would be crazy to trade or pay him like a 60 point guy when he has literally never hit that mark.

Yet time and time again its been proven that GMs are infact crazy, so why even bother having this argument

My take would be that whomever is banking on Kane this season, likely will not sign him in the off-season.

Capitalize on him going for a 30 goal year like he did during his last contract year. Let him chase the dollars elsewhere while you get a guy that can be the tipping point for your team this year.

I don't really care about this debate, but you are spinning facts. Injuries are part of the game, but shouldn't be a predictor of the player being injured in the future. Meaning you have to take Kane's gpg, apg, and pgp, not just the totals. That's not using a great argument. He actually has 26.12 gpg/82, 24.62 apg/82, 50.73 pgp/82

Kane will be a needed addition to the team that gets him for their playoff run. Thing is if they really want him, need him, they will have to beat out the other teams . We will get a good return on him.
