He can be effective in the physical game, even when he isn't scoring. The real risk is when will he get hurt?
- jcragcrumple

knee injury fluke and cracked ribs, fluke

he has missed 29 games and over 2 and a half seasons

it's not like his name is tim connolly

A 1st and a young guy not on a roster is my guess.

Not sure there is a lot of other guys out there who can help a team out like he can.

We shall see.

- BigStew

Maximize his value is all Botterill is doing now, regardless how Kane or the team is playing. There will be a GM that trades for him and signs him. Those may be 2 different GM's.

I swear some on here must have thought vanek would produce the same with mair and matt ellis as he did with roy and pommer in their prime

teams have seen kane's production on a very bad top line with the sabres

teams have seen kane's production on a worse second line

teams have seen kane's production on a pathetic 3rd line

as well as special teams

his value is not dropping because his center is larsson instead of eichel

you guys are better than this

- homiedclown

Very bad top line?

He and Eichel are 2/3rds of it

Eichel is at a PPG, there are zero excuses there. He produced with Eichel, but everyone outside of slippery feet girgensons produces there. He is a 45-55 point power forward, made better with an elite player.

Some GMs will over value that, but he's hardly a great player, and he clearly has trouble producing on his own

He got Hodgson paid and made Luke adam look ok. He also somehow made steve ott a reasonable center for a bit. Kane doesn't make scrubs look good

Shannon - there's certainly an interest in Kane from a few teams. St. Louis is a team at the top of the list, Calgary and Carolina are also interested. #Sabres

"when was st louis ever mentioned with kane" lol

- Sabresfan-365

Funny thing is St. Louis said they are not renting players this year period.

the RW was brutal on that line bringing it down from average

His value is not dropping that much if at all. Teams knew who Kane was, and this season does nothing to change that mindset. At this point, his trade value exceeds the value of services rendered by far, especially if the conversation of a 7 year contract is realistic. He needs to be traded.

Why is okposo starting in ot? Kane on the bench.

Why is kane on the 3rd line when you are trying to trade him?

I think (opinion) it's that he isn't playing as well as he was. He has 1 goal in 13 games.

Correct. We do not have a complete top line. Prob the only team in the league that does not have at least 1 good line

If Kane is as good as you're implying - and Eichel certainly is that good - then 2/3rds of the line being exceptional should be fine with Reinhart, pominville or Okposo on it.

Kane plays the same way on any line. He gets the puck, tries to get to the slot and fires it. It's not like the RW on that line is gonna change his game. Kane fires the puck as soon as he gets it. If that line is average, as you say, with Kane as 1/3 of it, then he's part of the problem

he is the best rental up front, 30 goal scorer

the goal at the end of the year is not to have the best fancy stats, but to have players that put the puck in the net

he is in the top 40 for goals scored in the last season and a half

it's that simple

Kane's game can be put very simply. Inside the hashmarks, he's very good. Outside the hashmarks, he's almost worthless. And Teams have figured out how to keep him outside the hashmarks.

kane is in the top 40 in the entire nhl for scoring goals in the last year and a half

People keep mentioning him as a 30 goal scorer.

He's done that once in 8 years

We've gone from a 1st, roster player, prospect and additional pick to :

Kane will be traded and then will be signed.
Possibly 2 different teams.

Kane could help maximize his value by scoring and working his way up the line up

THIS MEANS ON AVERAGE HE IS MOST LIKELY THE SECOND BEST GOAL SCORER ON MOST TEAMS

what do teams want in the playoffs

We were on the PP to start OT and IMO Okposo is better suited for a 4-3 than Kane.

Okposo was worse than horrible until he started to play with Eichel, other than last night where I didn't think he played that well, he has been showing signs of being a top 6 guy. I would rather Okposo get rolling and confident than Kane so you keep him with Eichel.

line chemistry for life w/o kane

if kane pops a few goals here and there, not really going to change the return on a trade

Evander Kane average points over 8 years:

19.63 goals

17.88 assists

37.5 points

It works both ways though. He could go on a 8 goals in 8 game stretch, and his value won't increase that much either. He is who he is, and the league already knows it.
