We had the #1 PP in the league last year with Kane on the 2nd unit

Okposo was on the top one

I’m guessing bc he moves the puck better, and doesn’t blast the puck high or wide like Kane often does

- jdfitz77

All of this.
21 can pass the puck.

Are u worried his trade value will drop?
- jdfitz77

He's done virtually nothing the past 16 games

Ok Housley, you made your point, Girgensons played 18 minutes and Wilson played 15. Now please fix these lines

Just trying to show that the PP has been very successful in the past with 21 on it instead of 9

The struggles this year are beyond me
Obviously this group has the talent to be MUCH MUCH better on the PP

- jdfitz77

If you think about it, there were a lot of power plays last year that if they didn’t score in the first 30 seconds, they didn’t score.

Lack of talent & injuries on defense

Lack of consistency in net

Lack of scoring depth

We have good players in spots
Just need more to have a good TEAM on a nightly basis

Kane won’t even hit 60 points or 30 goals.

Trade him now.

- sbroads24

A 1st and a prospect and I am happy. Definitely not worth the $7 million that apparently he thinks he is worth.

Right. It's 8 points though, and 9 is his career high. 2nd PP works with less time and doesn't move the puck as much, he works better there. On the first PP, out of position because of Jack, I've always thought he looks completely out of place.
- Lunaion

How is he out of position because of jack? Guys should be on their off wings on the pp for one timers' every team does it. This is why i think ror and oko are out of position, they should be switched.
Kane simply cant play on his off wing, its almost like he actually can not hit the net over there (he can barely hit the net on the left side as it is.)

Not super surprising. The regression was inevitable. He's only hit 30 goals once, and he's never had 60 points.

I sure would be too. I dont think he nets that much in the end. A first or a good prospect is probably all its going to be. Hopefully a good d prospect as we will probably draft a forward this year.
He might want 7M, he isnt going to get it. Especially if he wants max term i think hes dreaming. Wouldnt surprise me if he ends up at 6x5 really. Maybe 6x6 but i wouldnt do it.

Idk...
goal scorers are streaky
All it’s gonna take is a good stretch & the teams who already like him will be re-affirmed in their beliefs as to why

Teams aren’t really gonna think he suddenly sucks now

He has averaged less than 20 goals per year over his career.
He is a shooter not a goal scorer.

I can guarantee though, if he had kept the pace up and finished with 35g and 75p, some GM would have paid him like he had done that for the past 8 years, and will do it for the next 7.

This stretch may force a GM to take a cold shower. Come July 1 though, someone will still do something dumb

Any more than 4 maybe 5 years (and thats even pushing it) would be dumb imo.

I think if he agrees to go anywhere, he will get his 7x7. If he wants to play for a specific team, maybe 5 or 6 yrs by 6 mil.

I dont think theres any way he gets 7x7 in free agency. Even the team that trades for him probably wont go that high or long.
His career gpg is .3186
Over 82 games thats 26.1 goals py
But he only averages 62 games py
At 62 games py that works out to 19.75 goals py.
I dont believe his games py average will go up with age.
Thats a lot of cash and guaranteed cap hit for <20 goals expected py.

Point totals are even worse
Career .6187 ppg
Over 62 games thats 38.36 ppy

Does that sound like 7m annual value?
Take the first or the prospect and run and hide.

Sure sounds like you're agreeing with me. Kane's uncomfortable on the right side...and most comfortable where Jack is.

Sure he is. That alone is reason enough to not have him on the pp. i want guys on their off wings i.e. Oreilly being on the right side like i mentioned before. unless you want to plant him in front of the net?

I never said he was Ovechkin
He's averaged over 25goals per 82games played

Kane is definitely a “scorer”
He’s not the top guy on the market bc he just shoots a lot
And there’s also more to his “game” that he’s effective at

Sure...
but at this point,
all i really care about is what can we get for him
