Actually we are very consistent. A lot of people think he is a bad coach who makes bad decisions. However, there does not seem to be much point in beating the same drum game after game.
That being said every so often he makes what can only be described as one of the stupidest coaching decisions of the decade. At that point our disgust and outrage force us to express ourselves by pointing out that he should not be coaching above the peewee level.
Now if one of his supporters would be kind enough to explain why it was some form of coaching brilliance to leave Gio, Stone and Brouwer on the ice after the first whistle in overtime, I am sure that the rest of us would be highly entertained.
Maybe you could point out that those three guys had the highest fitness levels so they were less tired than the other 14 guys would be after skating from the bench to the faceoff circle.
Maybe there is some advanced statistic that indicates that Brouwer never loses three faceoffs in a row so it was more probable that would win possession and statistically Gio and Stone have a higher completion percentage to Backlund when he is within 10 feet of the penalty box. So statistically the chance that Backlund would get a breakaway was great with those three on the ice and the likelihood of the Sabres scoring against three dead tired penalty killers was extremely low.
We would just love to hear the reasons that justify what most would regard as a bonehead move.

Everyone is spending way too much time complaining about this game. Be happy they got a point. The Flames have a history of playing down to their opponents and making backups look like stars. I could have told you in October that they'd look like crap in this game.

Forget about it and start complaining if they look bad against the Kings.

Did any of the media ask Gully about his decision to have Brouwer take 3 key faceoffs in overtime?
I get we harp on him, but is he oblivious?
I'm hoping someone calls him out cause that was utterly unexcusable.... How can you justify not making a change, getting fresh legs on or better yet, any legs other than Brouwer?!!!

Not sure if you understand but the whole point of face offs is to try and win possession of the puck. Now if that had actually been a centerman (he's the guy that usually takes the draw) it wouldn't seem as bad. There's no reason to let Brouwer take a key face off in our zone especially after he was cleanly beat on his 2 previous attempts.

The worst part is Gully said post game he doesn’t think the guys on the ice had anything to do with the OT GOAL.

Yup. Brouwer would probably be the last guy on the team I would have take that draw.

Lucky to get a point with shot totals like this: Backlund: 0, Monahan 0, Bennett 0, Ferland 0. Brodie and Hamilton had more shots between them than the all the Fs put together.

Easy there, over analysis boy....

Did you not see what Brouwer was trying to do on the faceoff? It's not like he's trying to win it back, you wouldn't do that 4-3. I also don't think the players were that tired. Anyway, it backfired. Time to move on.

Brouwer not a centerman!
- K-man25

No idea why:
Brouwer was taking faceoffs
They left that group of 3 on the ice for over a minute and a half - on a PK
How the refs called two penalties in the last 5 minutes
How Backlund was dumb enough to take that penalty in the last minute

And that was just a dumb decision on his part - risk vs reward, and risk won out.

Ryan O'Reilly is far and away the best faceoff man in the league...is trying to clear the puck really the worst idea?
