It seems like we go through this at this point in time every year, the annual screaming of, "DO SOMETHING!!!!" The only thing that needs to be done is the selling off of players who are not part of GMJB's long term plan.

Firing Hously might be something that is needed, but not until the off season, we don't need to be shaking this team up and compiling pointless wins. We need a top 3 pick! We need a scoring winger for Jack or a franchise Dman, and we'll get one with a top 3 pick.

Stay the course, tank, move out 1/3 of this roster by draft day, load up on picks and prospects, regroup for next season.

I only want to see 4 more wins for this remaining season. (frank) the Leafs!

We thought that about Reinhart and Nylander too.... as history has showed picking high dosent mean you’ll end up with great players.

Yes, you can blow picks, but outside of Ekblad no one was really raving about 2014 draft, quality by all accounts appears to be better in this years top 3-4 rated picks. The book is still out on Nylander, he's only a year out from his draft and his injury had put a damper on this season so far for him. He very well might still end up as a good player, just like it took Neiderreiter years to find his NHL game.

Not really. Housley had the chance to pick his own coaching staff and he was hired as coach while they brought in Beaulieu, Pominville, Scandella,Redmond, Wilson, Pouliot, Johnson. He has a summer to get to know his players, etc etc

Bednar legitimately had 0 chance. The roster was set and the coaching staff was set. He was asked to try to take all that and ice a team. He showed up and met some of his players for the 1st time at training camp bc thats how late in the summer it was

I think the Sabres can fix this but the band-aid trades and signings need to stop. I dont know what style of coach Housley is, but if the roster isnt tailored to how he wants this team to play...then start purging

- DDM-Coga

Getting to know crappy players doesn’t help. They’re not band aid fixes, they’re stop gaps. He needs time and high picks to amass the talent needed to compete. Housley had 0 shot at competing with this team. It seems like that was plan anyways. If the low risk moves worked out, great. If not, get a high pick.

Great write up.

Housley being hired, smells of pegula.
Tpegs is still a sabres fan.

If it was rick tocket or any other pittsburgh connection, that would be on jbotts

If your plan is to be Fallin for dahlin, housley's inexperience is the perfect fit.

I still think Housley being hired helped sign eichel to his 8 year contract. We needed a push over to appease eichel's sensitivity.

I hate the idea of continuing the coaching carousel. Housley obviously deserves some blame but I think he gets at least one more year. If there is major roster shakeup and next year ends up the same, or close to it, then can him and get someone who shows some emotion. Bring Lindy back if you have to.

That's not true it's called good drafting and knowing when to trade up

Anyone with a brain knew Clayton Keller was going to be a stud they could have easily moved up to get him

When you have an incompetent GM that is a so-called Scout and can't (frank)ing Scout that's your problem

If they can Housley this quick, who's taking the job? It's a bad look burning through coaches so quick.

price for trading up is always astronomical, especially in the top 10.

There's an element of luck involved as well, but drafting high is your best bet at getting high end talent.

Trades can work too but those have to come to you as pleasant surprises/opportunities not as plan A.

The last coach that actually made this watchable was Lindy Ruff

You might have to bring him back like the Dallas Stars did with Hitchcock

This team needs some (frank)ing tough love

How much would it have cost to move up to get Clayton Keller maybe a second round pick I'm guessing and a middle tier Prospect ..

It wouldn't surprise me if the Arizona Coyotes won the lottery this time

I don't understand how a GM is a scout first "GM"and can be that incompetent and have 0 results from the 2014 draft and throw away draft picks like candy to a goaltender that he's watched over his years can't he (frank)ing see

I'm sorry for bringing up old history but he's really (frank)ed this team

If Jacksonville is just going to run the ball every play it's not going to work the Patriots are going to figure out how to stop it and it's over with

Overconfidence.

His instant rebuild theory would only have worked if every move he made worked out. It was a huge risk and there was no plan B.

In early December I told all of my roommates I live with in my student house that the Jags had the best chance to beat the Pats this year. They remind me of the 2015 Broncos.

I agree 100%. It was boom or bust. If you get McDavid perhaps you get Babcock and Stammer. It is what it is

Phil is not taking a demotion, he's either coach or you fire him.
