So so. Both teams aren't having the best puck luck. Provorov rocked Tom Wilson though which was great.
Hagg definitely leads rookies in hits, not sure about the league. - hereticpride
Yesterday, they said he was 2nd in the league, and tops among rookies, so it's possible...
EDIT -- Just check on timeout...At the start of today, yes he leads the league. |

Watching Manning in this first period even more so makes me wonder how Sanheim can't get into a game over him? |

Thank you Elliott, gotta pick it up in the 2nd boys. Legs are probably feeling heavy, but you have to dig deep and find a way. |

To me, they are just missing an extra player on the back end to provide a bit of offensive punch. How many times did Hagg, McDonald or Manning get the puck and completely kill any type of offensive cycle or attack? They'll just shoot the puck because it's the safe play. |

Yes, this happens to much. And having our two best puck moving D guys on the same pairing doesn't help. I get they work well together, but your leaving the other 2 pairings with little offensive creativity. |

Exactly, which is why it's mind blowingly frustrating that Sanhiem gets to watch all the time |

How many times do we see a defenseman with the puck back at the point and holding on to take a shot with no traffic at the net? It's a team game and getting the puck to the net for possible screens, deflections, and rebounds is always a good play for a defenseman. It's up to the forwards to fight and get to the net.

Or a defenseman can move his feet and create some time for players to get to the net or change angles for their shots. How many times does Amac and especially Manning have their shots blocked up high? Way to many times then should be happening. You move your feet instead of standing around and you open up lanes and get the other team having to move and opens up a forward etc. It is not rocket science, pretty common and has a lot to do with your confidence in yourself. |

You're right. But that's not what McD did earlier in the period. He got the puck with time and could have waited a bit, but he fired a weak wrist shot from the point, with no traffic that the goalie easily deflected to the corner to his defensemen and the Caps got an easy out.
AND -- to give credit to Manning, he actually did just that later in the period. He waited and took a slap shot with traffic in front. That was a good play, but he doesn't always do that. |

You're right 100%, but I honestly don't trust McD or Manning to do that. That's why I want Sanheim in there, because he was starting to get into a bit of a groove. Yes, he had some gaffs, but I would like to see him in there. |

Neither MacDonald or Manning are players that should be looking to make those kinds of plays. They are doing what they should be doing which is making the simple play. It's just too easy for some to blame the scapegoats when they're making the right play.

That's not on MacDonald that's on the forwards for not getting traffic at the net. Do you know how fast a player can make up that ground in a second? MacDonald made the right play.

You just said sometimes a D has to wait for traffic to arrive, but McD didn't. So because he didn't wait, it's the forwards fault? That's not consistent with what you said earlier.
