All three of those teams replaced not only the coach, but the GM as well. That is what McDonagh should do if/when this team is golfing in early April. - EnzoD
The only team that has had high level sustained Success in a hard cap sport is New Eng. That is because they put the coach in front of the players the never paid players for past performance and if you did not want to play under there terms they let you move on. Ie no one can be overpaid and evreyone can be replaced. When you put the players and the Coach in front of the product you get a much smaller window. Teows and Kane won 2 titles but were they 10% better then the next in the league? |

I could live with that .Stan sure is not innocent in this . But I believe coach Q is closer to problem with his use of players . As LA PIT and Boston have shown the core players can still provide value with the right leadership .. |

Somebody needs to take a look at the entire scouting staff and their draft recommendations as well.
So many college boys, small Euros and local area kids drafted in the last few years. Don Cherry would throw an absolute fit if he looked at the list of Hawks picks - like he did when he went nuts on the Maple Leafs a few years ago. |

Doesn't the GM hire the Scouting staff? |

No argument here. Hockey is a team sport and guys like Hossa, Saad, Oduya, Buff, Ladd, Bolland, Campbell, Sharp, ect all played KEY roles in the Cup wins. Can only hope that the Salary Cap goes up this summer as has been reported recently, then those big contracts won't be such a hindrance on the ability to ice a complete roster. |

With injuries to Ladd, Boychuk, de Haan, Kulemin and Cizikas, I expect nothing less than giving us a good old fashion ass kick. We have a GM who won't make a move, a coach who doesn't know how to make adjustments and their best player probably won't resign... |

Av''s win again...the season could be over by the Feb3rd game w/Calgary.
NYI,TBL,TOR,DET,NSH,VAN, and CGY next 7, if we go 3-4 it's all but over.
Did McD have to give an AOK on all contracts given out?
The run was fantastic and yes mistakes were made, giving Toews and
Kane the contracts they got wasn't fatal, it was a culmination of having
"one goal" in giving away players and draft choices in hope of one more
run, but two first round exits were a major warning sign that the core
was no longer capable of such a run. Yes Toews get's ragged on but he's
still good enough, Kane is Kane yes he's going to get his point's , but it's
the loss of Hossa, Seabs, the loss of a step and any offensive skill by Keith
and now with Corey out that has brought the run to an end.
Mcd, SB and Q brought us both greatness and now the current team, change
is need and change is good, nothing last's forever.
One last note the Kings are fading badly as of now they're out of the PO's
also, they need offense, Schmaltz for Muzzin? |

If Stan’s goal is to find another top four D guy then he is a franking idiot. Plain and simple. It could all be cover for another move, but....
The need is up front, not at the blueline.
Any move that does NOT make the top six tougher is the wrong move, and people should begin to think about whether the organization’s philosophy is correctly aligned with what is required to be a cup contender in today’s NHL. Speed, skill AND toughness.
Two out of three aint bad, as the song goes, but you need all three.
The stars are aligned for a crap the bed game tonght anyway: long layoff, home game, must win. So we will see passive start, early hole dug, stupid penalties, whining at refs, and realizing that playing hard is required all too late to come back. |

Seems like there's something to that. Mackinnon took off after Duchene was traded. He's playing like the #1 pick overall. Or maybe his buddy Crosby got on his case. |

Yes and yes.
Duchene is a good guy but that situation really soured and the entire team felt it.
Colorado is going to make out like bandits with that trade. |

Beginning of the second season starts tonight so may as well go with a 10-1 beatdown win for the Hawks Hopefully Schmaltz doesnt get roughed up and give us a flat tire this second half |

Good job by the “captain” to take yet another penalty and let New York back into the game. Way to ruin the momentum. |

Time for Toews to go to the wood shed...He is one frustrated player. |
