Given what this season is likely turning into, I'd go with that as well. Maybe bring up another young guy to rotate in and send Rutta and Kempny packing. But for next game, Forsling needs to sit. - matt_ahrens
While it is true that Rutta is awful - so is Forsling. BOTH should go to Rockford. BOTH do absolutely nothing in the defensive zone - NOTHING!

I'd change the coach right now if for no other reason than to see what you really have with each of the players before it comes time to make the tough trade decisions. Tell the new guy that's his objective. Bench whomever you need to, let us see what we really have with each individual. Make sure the players (especially the dog house denizens) know it's a clean slate. Allow the other teams to see (hopefully) the best each of the players has to offer.
As long as Q is there, some of the vets will phone it in some nights and you'll have head-scratching roster shuffling that doesn't allow the young guys to build confidence and that word I'm sooooo sick of hearing in these post-loss player interviews, "consistency." - pdx2ord

You know the other day I said to my son jokingly when we were in the middle of the last freeze, I’m getting to old for this cold weather maybe I’ll move to Vegas and become a Knights fan. If they trade Kaner there I’m gone. - walleyeb1
I moved to Denver in August 2016 after living in Chicagoland my whole life. 40-50 degrees all winter, skiing in the mountains, and 300+ days of sunshine. Avs games are cheap too! |

I've really held off for a long time, but after that performance (as well as that DET stinker) and with all the "time's running out" talk by the players, yet their words don't match their on-ice play... #realtalk at this point. - Justin Lowe

May be time for Stan to start his exit interviews?Either the players will say nothing which could indicate support for Q or the floodgates will open and some dirty laundry will get aired.I know it would never happen but whatever is poisoning that room needs to be decapitated pronto. |

This team sucks and there soft. They need someone to be a leader in the locker room and hold each other accountable. Good for Hartman to at least try to do something in a blow out and not just let a team walk all over you at home. But Johnston is one of the toughest guys in the minors a real throwback enforcer. Hartman should of tried clutterbug he would of had a shot he did his best Colin Fraser impression there.
They need to make a move or two to shake up this team. Because we are looking like sellers real soon. And Rockford doesn't have much in terms of help immediately. They have no big physical mean players for the lower lines toughest guy is probably Hayden. Who I wouldn't mind back he has heart. And any dmen that can play right now? Rutta has been struggling forsling looks like a bust. Kempney is ahl and murphy who should be playing was benched. |

With playoff invoices and season ticket renewals soon to follow, how many will be sending money in for either? |

Just spit balling here, but having a coach that works well with younger players as well with great success at the AHL level why not give Sheldon Keefe a shot coaching this team.
The guy had great success with the Grey Hounds in the OHL and has had 2 good seasons coaching the Marlies and working on a 3rd good season. He will get a coaching job sooner rather than later in the NHL why not the Hawks?
When the leafs call someone up from the Marlies team they look seasoned and ready to go. Watched the last few Leaf games and it looks like Keefe has done a fantastic job with Travis Dermott on defense.
It gets a little tiresome having the same group of coaches moving from team to team. Get some young new blood in the NHL. Maybe these younger coaches have what it takes to adapt to the new NHL's style of play

take away the two blow outs pens and sens...the hawks are -15 in goal diff...
they have no defensive structure at all...they get beat regularly...the goalie are in a gawd damn shooting gallery game after game...46 last night; and the isles owned the front of the net all night...
what we have are 2 types of pains: the death pains of the glorious core and the growing pains of the under 23 group...
other than crawford/kane you have a core of toews, keith, saad, seabs producing at about 50% their contract value of about 29 mildo... |

So you have to wonder when something more significant happens.
I'd expect .500 over the next month to be a reach. Especially with shoddy goaltending. Its kind of amazing what Crow has covered up.
Murphy sitting in a game where points are paramount is a terribly egregious decision.
I also think its about time Kane wore a letter. You can take the C or either of the A's at this point. Only guy whose bringing it every night. Who would have thought that 5 years ago? |

they had the lowest TOI of the defensemen with 13:40 and 14:09 respectively. they weren't just really bad, they were efficiently bad. - matt_ahrens

the hawks are being forced to play guys who should be rck improving their skills: forsling (the guy has great talent at 21), ADB, smaltz, oster, etc...
look great one game and then brutal in another...
so we all know the hawks could not afford another bad two weeks of losing 5 or 6 of 7...but there they are losing 3 of 4 at home with bolts, leafs and a 4 game road trip dead ahead
when those games are done maybe looking at 3-7 over those games combined... |

I have not been one to bash Toews as some other posters, but his stupid O zone penalty turned the tide in that game. We were up a goal and driving the play to that point.
One would think that he would have been driven after that goal on his needless penalty. But that was not the case. After the game I was more p__d at him than the goaltenders. |

Games in any sport, including the NHL can turn quickly. It is hard to envision but the Hawks actually had a great start against the Islanders. The Hawks were carrying the play and actually took a 1-0 lead and seemed on the brink of extending the lead. Then the Great Captain, the Great Leader blatantly brings down an Islander player directly in front of the Islanders’ net for no reason. Keith and Seabrook being actual hockey players and actual defencemen kill off a big part of Toews’ totally stupid penalty only to have the Laurel and Hardy defensive team of Forsling and Rutta give up their first goal, of many this night. Thanks Toews, Forsling and Rutta - and Dirty Ulf - well done. |

I also think Kane should get the C . I am surprised that Toews has not yet given up his C yet. You would think after 2 years of mediocre play Toews would figure it is time to pass on the torch. |

I thought it was selfiish. The time for it was the beginning of the 2nd period. At least he picked the guy he should have. |

Enjoying watching yout team sink. I mean really enjoying. Not as much as Rinne’s shutouts in Game 1 and 2 but close.

Yes bad OZ penalty for sure. But remember something else, during the penalty Saad breaks in alone shorthanded and as usual absolutely no result for about the 25th time this year. Could have made it 2-0 which 'might' have made a difference at least temporarily, it sure would have lifted the bench for a bit.
And have you ever seen an NHL team use the body on so few opponents - this team plays an absolute non contact version of the game. 50 year olds play non contact, not NHL teams. |

doom and gloom "reality"..
currently 22-18-6 thru 46 games with 36 to go...
1. I don't expect this team make a 10-1-2 type of run...
2. I expect basically the same a .500 team; which is what they have been since the first 4 games of the season...
best case final record: 38-35-9 81 pts and about where they are now last in the division and 12 in the WC.
injury's and a complete quit job by this team and they may end up closer to 34 wins...
they play alot of playoff contention teams the last 36 games...i see no chance of getting 90 pts...
shut craw down...no way you risk bringing him back for this farce |
