OEL without quesiton is better than Leddy, but there's no way you can move Leddy to Get OEL that wouldn't make any sense what so ever. It would more or less be a lateral movement. The whole point is to upgrade the defense as a whole, not trade out best dman for another dman to replace him. Isles need Leddy, OEL and Boychuk for this to even make sense.

Great blog by Botta especially the injury talk from Doug. The Isles are loaded at forward with the top 6 even with injuries. No excuses for Garth and Doug. This team has the assets to make moves to improve this team.

Whatever package they'd get for rental-Tavares wouldn't even come close to replacing him. I think at this point they have to gamble, they aren't tanking for a lottery pick here. They're going to be in the hunt for a playoff spot and they don't have a shot in hell without Tavares.

correct and of course you wont get equal value for him but they could get a bunch of picks. I believe they ride it out and roll the dice however a nice trade to help the d out and get into the playoffs would help JT make a decision too

I agree losing him just isn't worth the frustration. But looking at this realistically, let's say they trade JT for two 1st rounders plus other pieces. Barzal is now the 1C. You're right back to where we were a year ago, not having a 2C. However, Having 5 1st round picks between the 2018 and 2019 draft isn't that bad of a spot to be in. That is...IF Garth actually drafted well. And the "if" is a humongous IF. If we had a competent GM I'd actually say losing JT wouldn't be the end of the world.

EDIT: Let me make this clear. If JT were to leave, I'd be absolutely heart broken. I obviously wouldn't want to be in the previously stated position.

Don't play again until Thursday night in Vegas. I'd rather start the good goalie and put us in the best position to beat a bad team. But on the flip-side...the Coyotes did just dust St. Louis the other night.

Figure Yotes are a good team to play Greiss and build on his confidence after he played so well last game. The two days off does help in playing Halak tonight.

what was with staple title, Isles show the can answer the bell with win against chicago.
Did he miss the fact that Crawford their goalie is out with injury?
Also isles have show plenty of times the can beat some of the biggest teams but then also have shown us way more that thet can get smoked for 1 month and 1/2 to every other team.

I want to see this team ready to play every game. Not just some of them.
Rattle off 5-6 straight wins then tell me we answering the bell.

Bottom line is we need a new GM.
First off do we trust snow getting a good return at this point especially this deep into the season? I for one do not the guy has crapped the bed numerous times in this situation.
Hypothetically if he's still our GM after being directly responsible for one of the worst things to happen to this franchise in two decades do we now depend on him to actually make a good draft choice and his group to then develop those prospects? I don't.
Like i said. We need a new GM.

i say you trade JT and trade for the winning JT (jonathan toews) . Give you leadership and he is best two center since Trotts.

At this point I don't think they can be giving goalies games to hopefully build on their confidence. Gotta win and Jaro has been giving us the better chance for that lately.

With Halak's injury history, I worry about playing him too much. Isles going to need Greiss to be able to play as well.

Fair point. Isles can do a big favor to both goalies by getting the puck in deep instead of turning it over. It's all going to come down to defensive play even more than the goalies.

You're 100% correct. The point I was making was that if we had a competent GM, then trading JT wouldn't exactly cripple the franchise. However, as long as Garth is GM he absolutely CANNOT let him go. I do not trust him trading JT for assets then developing those assets properly, either.

If Garth is unable to sign JT, he should go down in flames, regardless if he acquires anything for him or not.

I love Toews, but if the Isles were to pay anyone 10.5 million...it better be Tavares. 10.5 for Toews is a rough number.

I think Halak has played much better and if he wasnt facing 40+ a night he would be doing finr numberwise. put 40+ a night on hank or price rinne ect see how they do. d is the teams biggest need and when guys are back a bottom 6 of 16 29 11/10 and 15 53 25 isnt awful
