Honestly, I thought Willy made a decent effort to try to catch the passer on the final play -- it was Gardiner inexplicably going after the passer as well that left Couturier wide open.

Ugh. You could just feel that goal happening.

It was absolutely Gardiner.

I agree with you that he's not a problem this year, next year or the year after that.

It's just this Habs team needs to retool a fair bit. In three years when they can be good again will weber still be a #1? We don't know.

- Santo_44

I'm confident Weber will remain a solid defenseman well into his 30's.

At some point, time will probably catch up to him but we've seen so many players retire or just stay on the LTIR for the remaining of their contracts... I'm not too worried.

Especially since the penalty will go to Nashville.

I think that at a certain point, Nashville will have to try to get him back.

You can't leave that kind of scary liability out there.

Reacquire him, and then if he wants to retire, work out a LTIR trip to Robidas Island.

That could really (frank) Nashville over. I doubt Weber (frank)s them over though

I'm not saying he's a problem individually

I'm saying he will get worse over the years and the Habs have a few years of work to get back to the level they were. He won't be the same d man he is today at that time.

Maybe.

People act like Weber is already 35 years old.

The man turned 32 this year.... his contract MIGHT be a problem in 5-6 years... It's a goddamn lifetime in the NHL.

I've always been a Gardiner fan

He's been pissing me the (frank) off this year though. He's still a top 4 D and I think he shows spurts of top 2/3 play like he did in the playoffs.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if he was used to trade for a top 4 RHD. Dermott isn't ready to replace his mins but by next year it's a good chance

I'll be fine...I should still make the playoffs...but losing 500 points or there abouts in 1 week could................knock me out if I have another bad week.

I yelled at my TV "Where the (frank) are you going Nylander?!!"
Gardiner and Nylander clueless defensively.

Young guns suck recently, and the veterans haven't done anything either. All that scoring talent and we're scoring 1-2 goals per game. (frank)!

No idea what Nylander was doing on the OT winner. Starts off next to Couturier, slowly drifts to Konecny (who the defender had) and forces the defender into no-man's land.
- jmatchett383

the only way gardiner should have been cheating to konecny is if nylander had couturier......for unknown reasons nylander lets off the gas and drifts over to konecny ,gardiner should have read that nylander was blowing it and taken away the pass and let andersen deal with konecnys shot.
....just a comedy of errors that andersen didnt find too funny after the game.

I know, Gardiner has to go.

Marner, Nylander, and even Matthews sucking will help in the long run, since they'll be on better contracts, but it's tough to watch at the moment
